I sold an item yesterday, from Germany to Canada. I was immediately surprised by the low price, but since it had been a long time since I listed the item (a typewriter), I didn't have the exact figures memorized. This morning, I shipped the typewriter. Now I've noticed that Etsy charged the wrong price. The customer in Canada was billed the price for sales in Germany instead of the price for international sales. I haven't found a way to report my problem through "Support," so I'm turning to the forum. I've also noticed that many of my item prices have been changed. Suddenly, the same prices are listed for international and domestic sales. On the item overview page, you can still see the correct prices I used. But when I go to the item page itself, the values are incorrect. I lost a good 50% of my profit on this sale and I'm worried because I expect this error could happen again.
This problem has existed for 2 years and Etsy does not care to fix it, apparently.
Here is how to fix your listings yourself: https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/Domestic-Global-Shipping-Prices-quot-Glitch-quot/m-p/...
Use live chat to ask for a refund of the difference. Tell them this is about the well-known bug with the domestic and global pricing tool.
It appears that this issue doesn't happen all the time to all sellers in locations that use this so Etsy is not compeled to fix it.
Ask for a refund of the difference letting them know this is a long standing issue. Guess they would rather refund than fix.
Thank you for the replies and for pointing out that this is a long-standing issue. I've been selling on Etsy since 2017 and fortunately haven't had any issues of this kind. I'll follow your suggestions. This morning, I had another sale that was affected by this. It's terribly annoying.
