Please would someone from the technical department unblock me? I cannot view or access my shop at all anymore. I was typing a response to a buyer's help request when the message (which I spent a long time creating) suddenly disappeared, and this appeared on my screen:
Etsy
You have been blocked
Why? Something about the behaviour of the browser has caught our attention.
There are various possible explanations for this:
- You are browsing and clicking at a speed much faster than expected of a human being.
- Something is preventing JavaScript from working on your computer.
- There is a robot on the same network (IP _______________) as you.

I have left blanks regarding identifying IP and ID numbers. I was not browsing and clicking at a speed faster than expected of a human being since I am a human being, making that impossible. In regard to the second reason, I doubt that that is the case since others are experiencing this issue as indicated in this thread: https://community.etsy.com/t5/Technical-Issues/I-think-I-ve-been-blocked/td-p/144795117. In regard to the third one, is this one of AI's many issues (another indication that AI is problematic)?
As the message I was responding to was a help request, and I only have 24 hours to respond, would you please resolve this as soon as possible so my star seller status is not at risk? I work hard to maintain it, so it would be unfair for me to lose it due to an Etsy glitch. Also, is my shop showing all my customers that I have been blocked too?
@MemorableWeddingand @PeachPoPsParties: I found the solution in another post about the same issue. You can see it here: https://community.etsy.com/t5/Managing-Your-Shop/I-have-been-blocked-by-etsy/m-p/146633171#M1749665. Oddly, it is the solution I have always tried for any glitches on Etsy. It just didn't occur to me that a block would be due to a glitch. Anyway, once you clear your cache and restart your computer, you should be able to view and respond to your messages again. Please respond to let me and others know if it worked for you in case this solution doesn't work for everyone.
@PeachPoPsParties: I use Firefox, and when that doesn't work, I use Safari as a backup. I only tried it on Firefox, but as it worked on Safari for you, we now know that it works on Firefox and Safari at least. I went a step further than just deleting my cache the typical way and then restarting my computer. As you said in your own thread that it still doesn't work on Firefox as well as Chrome for you, this is what I did on my Mac:
1. Clicked on History, Clear Recent History.
2. Clicked on Firefox, Preferences, and Privacy & Security. Then I scrolled down to the Cookies and Site Data section and clicked on Manage Data. You can clear the whole lot if you wish, but I prefer to delete certain sites from time to time. I cleared everything for the last few days which included Etsy (important since the glitch is on here) plus any news sites as I read the news on multiple sites and clearing them all fixes glitches sometimes.
3. Closed my browser.
4. Shut down my computer completely and waited a few minutes before starting it up again. I typically restart my computer at this state, but a techie told me a while back that shutting it down completely rather than jump-starting it via a restart can fix more issues.
@NoFrogsAllowed: I tried clicking on the back button in Firefox, but it didn't work for me on three different tabs. What browser do you use so others can see what browser this worked on for you?
This has been happening to me all day today as well, I hope Etsy fixes this soon!
Same here. Thank you for sharing about this issue earlier today. I was glad I wasn't the only one.
Update:
Thanks to the @StitchRoundabout solution, I'm able to login using Safari, Chrome and Firefox without the "You have been blocked" message. Thank you!

It worked for a few minutes but then back to being blocked again!
@StitchRoundabout
Thank you. I appreciate your help. I think that worked (clearing cache and restarting) for the Safari browser. I am still getting the blocked message on Google Chrome on both the computer and phone.
That happened to me this morning, but it wasn't on Etsy. I hit the back button, then tried again and it worked correctly the 2nd time.

I'm pretty sure I was using Chrome. but it wasn't on Etsy so it might not work. I was mainly pointing out that it might not be a strictly Etsy problem. My guess would be an AI problem.
I'm being blocked every three days but on Safari only. Chrome works fine. I've tried clearing the cache option, like the one above, but it solves the issue for three days, then I see it again. I've done all the restarting-rebooting, etc, as described. The problem seems to be generated by Etsy, because it only started happening to me this month. After I complete their captcha picture, I get the blocked screen. I tried sending a comment and a help request to Etsy to no avail. I hope they fix it soon.
It just happened to me again on Firefox so what I marked as solutions above are only temporary fixes. The solutions lasted around 12 hours.
Just had to post. I haven't had any trouble using EDGE on W11 on a desktop UNTIL today.
Typing a message then got a page that said the same exact page/info the OP posted.
I pulled up Chrome, signed in, no problems still showed I was signed in with Edge, so I signed out with it.
IP address the same.
I'll see what happens tomorrow if I still have trouble on Edge.
If so I'll clear out everything and see if it works (or not).
It's an etsy bug. I've had it happen a couple more times but clears itself eventually.
Thanks. Why doesn't Etsy fix whatever is causing this? Maybe they have no clue how to fix it. Unacceptable IMO.
I found a thread from Aug, same dam* problem.
I was able to pull up Etsy this morning ok and didn't do anything like clearing cookies/cache.
