Etsy adding 10+ extra days on delivery dates

I had (but I changed it today) my worldwide shipping set to delivery 30 days from ship date.  I usually ship within 4 business days but I have processing time 5-7 days to allow a margin for the unexpected.  Although most non-Europe international parcels arrive within 10 days, many arrive much sooner, but to be on the safe side, I mark delivery as 30 days from shipping date in my shipping profiles choosing 'other' as the transporteur.  A potential buyer just messaged me today to ask why the item she liked would not arrive US until 9 March if ordered today!  I checked and sure enough, all my shipping profiles with 30 days delivery from despatch date have an estimated delivery date over 40 days forward of the ship by date! Another disastrous Etsy programming glitsch?! I have now changed all my profiles with 30 days delivery times to 21 days, and that too is adding on an extra 10+ days, so, 30+ days from shipping.  How many potential buyers has this put off I wonder!?

yeap its showing me in the UK that my item might arrive by the 23rd Feb, someone else has mentioned this early on in the week that the Etsy extending delivery times are way out! i think they changed it over Christmas time and not changed back yet!

I have had this problem, too.  Makes no sense, whatsoever. 

I thought I had somehow let my tipsy aunt run the shop.

I believe Etsy is accounting for weekends now in the shipping profiles.

i think they always have, but that's still very excessive.

Because it’s business days. Weekends are not included.
Grab a calendar and count 37 business days from today (do not count weekends) to see on which day it ends. (37 days = 5-7 business days processing time + 30 business days carrier transit time). It is actually 9 March.

Thank you for that.  I knew processing time was business days (mon - fri), but it doesn't actually state business days anywhere. I hadn't noticed before that delivery times were also calculated in business days; don't most postal services deliver on Saturdays (and some places even on Sundays).

I have accepted your reply as a solution, because I have just followed the links you posted last week, in order to find the bit about Etsy not holding sellers responsible for items lost in the post.  This has now disappeared and there is completely revamped information here, which explains the 'updated' weekends information!  It is not the same information I saw last week.

The difficult thing about calculating that is that while many of us cannot post on the weekends, the USPS and UPS both are still processing and, in many cases, delivering.
That skews the day count.
