Hoping someone from the right dept will see this -
After reading through this post (and a few others like it):
Cannot update Taxpayer ID from Individual to Busin... - Welcome to the Etsy Community
It's easy to see there is a technical issue preventing sellers from being able to update their Taxpayer Info.
We are trying to update our account from an individual to a VAT registered Limited Company but each time it says:
"There was an error saving your taxpayer information. Please try again."
We have entered the information in all fields required.
We have pressed the "Submit To Etsy" button.
We have cleared our cache.
We have tried different browsers.
We have tried different devices.
We have entered the exact same information that our other shop has already (already accepted by Etsy a couple of years ago when we updated it)
I think this is a bug and it needs fixing asap please. Many other sellers are on here in the same boat.
Hi guys great news - I just filled it all in again and it worked. So I think the issue has been fixed.
We didn't alter the information or format that we were trying on the day this was posted so I believe it was a bug and it is now fixed.
You should check the spelling of your business name, it's case sensitive. That means it should match exactly the spaces and capital letters in your business name. It helped me when I was updating my taxpayer information, I hope it does for you!
Thank you, I've done that though, it's the exact same as on my other account.
When did you last update yours? Looking on the forums it seems to be an issue since about December 2022
I did it in November and was facing the same issue, when entering my business name in small cases but when I entered them capital letters, it was accepted!
Try entering all the letters in capitals.
I just gave it a go
I was so hoping it would work though, thank you for suggesting it.
Recheck your info again. If you are editing info today did you check off "2023 Tax Year" & press Submit To Etsy. (It's at the very bottom of the edit info. ) after you made any edits?
Hi thank you for your reply - yeah I have rechecked it all and tried it many different ways - I've even copied and pasted it directly from my shop where it's been accepted for ages.
I don't have that check button but it's probably different for me as I'm in the UK
I am having the same issue, as well as a lot of other sellers.
This as a technical issue that us sellers can't resolve. Etsy please help!!!
If you get timed out for too many times, you will need to contact Etsy to have them reset the information.
How to Update Your Taxpayer Information – Etsy Help
Have you confirmed with a tax authority that you are entering the name correctly? If you confirm and still having issues, you may need to talk to Etsy.
In the US it works differently so how it works in the US may not work for the UK.
@ChaoticJoyful I would perform a Forum search on VAT or look in the Announcements to see if there is a recent change
Yes, we received the same error message -There was an error saving your taxpayer information. Please try again.
I’m in the same boat. This is simply ridiculous and I don’t have time to deal with this nonsense. The error message could at least give some indication as to what the issue is.
We have the same problem. We are trying to register our new company and we are getting an error.
did you put GB in front of the vat number
does everything match, exactly? bank account name, company name ..... down to the last letter?
Hi yes all the information is perfect and even copied and pasted over from our other shop which was processed over a year ago just fine
Is GB for Great Britain ? What if you are not VAT regustered and not in GB ??
if you are VAT registered in Spain, it's SP, France is FR
If you're NOT vat registered, don't put in a number, I don't

Hi - Etsy have removed your comment. Do you know what the title of the post is so I can search for it? Thank you
Pretty telling how quick they are to moderate relevant content yet always too busy to address sellers’ actual issues.
moderators are here to moderate the forums,
they are seldom here to tackle issues, that's what "support" is for

OMG! I can't believe it, it works now!!!
