Long story short.
My shop was hacked around 50 hours ago.My shop is www.etsy.com/shop/TrendyHandicraft
Yesterday Etsy took back control and let me try to fix the changes they did during the time they took it over.Among them, was to set euro back(hackers changed it to USD).Etsy says that it can take an hour to complete this.During this time i would not be able to edit listing and shipping profiles).30 hours after, i still cannot edit listings and profiles and moreover clients cannot place orders because they get a message
that the item currency has changed.
From yesterday i try etsy live chat, contacted 3 different employees, with no result.
Still no result, still no news and i suppose that everybody in Etsy are happy
Wish you nice dreams, because it seems that everybody there are taking a nap
@TrendyHandicraft I'm not sure if you know or can see this. When I clicked on two of your listings there's a Buy It Now but it says "Visa ...8985". That is not supposed to be there. I didn't click any further so I don't know what happens beyond that. Maybe @Herrmoostache can help.
@SugarTaffySoap no, that's a recent test - by Etsy. You will be the only one to see that, don't worry (they are the last 4 digits of YOUR CC). I'm seeing my last 4 numbers now too. Nothing to do with the Seller.
Deleted, answered - plus my reply nested wrong again ugh
@SugarTaffySoap that visa number is your card number, there is another post about it
@OwlAlwaysKnit Why is it there ?? The thread doesn't say.
@SugarTaffySoap It's just one way for Etsy to help buyers notice what card they are using when they use the buy it now.
I have no idea why it is there, some people in the thread are saying it is a test as not all are seeing it.
@TrendyHandicraft Must be something new. I'm trying to find out more info.
@OwlAlwaysKnit I hope you're right. It's not a bad idea.
I was able to go all the way to the "Place Your Order" button at the end of the buying process. Nothing unusual or different showed on my end.
I just checked with chat support. Apparently it's been around for a while and no one sees that info. but the card holder.
@PillowDetails Wait, are you telling me support lied to me??
No! I see MY number, you see YOUR number.
Edit....my post nested wrong as well. I don't know what this about lately. I hit "reply" under your comment about Etsy chat lying and it landed whenever it felt like lol
I've seen it for at least two weeks. It has shown "buy it now" with Visa and the last 4 digits of my card number. I knew only I could see that (my info).
Don't be surprised at any time if a chat representative lies to you or gives misinformation about something though. That actually happens a lot.
@PillowDetails lol you said -> "no, that's a recent test - by Etsy"
I said "recent" because I first heard of this 2 weeks ago, from the Forums thread I linked.
Who knows what the Chat person defines as "a while" ?
@PillowDetails @SugarTaffySoap
That number is there for the convenience of buyers who want to just click on BUY IT NOW w/o going through the longer checkout process, and then this way they can see which card they have on file to pay for their purchases.
i.e. it makes life easier for shoppers.
to the hacked OP - it doesn't matter to buyers what your shop currency is set to. did somebody tell you they saw that message?
@UppNorthEh
Buyers can't purchase until the shop currency is changed.
By that I mean the shop currency set by the SELLER so that they don't get hit with currency conversion charges for USD to Euro since they bank in €.
It can take up to 48 hrs for your shop currency to change if you have a lot of listings so I wouldn't worry. I can't believe support didn't tell you that!
Sorry though for all that you are going through. Hang in there, I suspect it'll all be sorted by tomorrow and buyers will be able to shop with you again.
I just checked your shop and it looks like the conversion is complete. No problems when trying to checkout.
Frankly I would use email and not chat for this. I am not fond of chat for this as it is involved financially.
Ask them to send your information to a specialist and have that specialist call you.
