Enter Taxpayer ID NOT WORKING!!!

Etsy is asking me to enter my Taxpayer ID information otherwise my shop will be suspended.  However, when I try to do that I keep getting an error message and it won't let me do it!!!!!  I spoke to Etsy Support (not really Etsy, just a call center and totally useless)  and they were unable to help.  He's going to escalate it.  REALLY????  Being threatened to have my shop suspended but can't provide the requested information because of Etsy's glitch on their website?!!  Unbelievable.

I have entered this information on my other Etsy shops and never had any problem before.  When is Etsy going to offer real help for sellers for these types of issues?? this is just not right.

I am also being asked to confirm my info and I am decidedly nervous. I remember all the issues last year. I purposely came to the Forums to see if anyone was having issues BEFORE I try. Think I will wait now. Sorry this is happening to you. Very stressful.

Try another browser?  If you have tried more than once, you may need to wait 24 hours to try again.

Is your personal name still the same as the name you started your shop with?  Did you use your shop name in the personal name area?  Some sellers have done this and then things don't match when trying to add tax information.

Are you using the form of name as on your SSN card?  Did you use a different form when you started your shop.  If there is any difference the name may not match what IRS has for you.

Contact Etsy via email.  That to me is better than Chat for legal/financial issues.

When I click on Taxpayer ID it grays out the name so I can't type anything there, I can only enter my Social Security.   Nothing has changed with names everything is exactly the same.  Under the Legal Shop Information it shows my name, not my shop name.

The only choices are change legal name or enter Taxpayer ID so I choose Taxpayer and then you aren't allowed to type in the name box fields.  They already have and verified my drivers license so they have my legal name.

Sorry that this happened. The same happened to me and now my shop is permanently suspended. I provided multiple forms of ID (drivers license / passport) etc. I can't get a response to my appeal and just filed a second appeal to have my shop reinstated. I can't even get a reply to an email to a contact number to speak to someone. So much for "Keep Commerce Human". Does anyone have a good number to contact Etsy?

Oh no!  That is exactly what I'm afraid of happening!  So sorry they did that to you, that is crazy.  So ridiculous!  Ugh, I feel like crying now.

bjpmbb01 I just found an Etsy email asking me to update this information.  I clicked on the orange box that says Update Your Tax Information from the actual email to make the change and it seemed to have worked and looks as if the info got accepted into Etsy.  You might want to try it, it seems to have worked!
