Endless tabs in Chrome and new windows in Safari

Hi, 

I have never had an issue with this before but when I open my Etsy art shop in Safari and then click on an image there is no way to get back to the shop page without clicking on the main shop URL which then creates more and more windows. I just want to be able to go back to the previous page without creating windows

Then in my Etsy vintage shop on Chrome, every time click on an image I just get more and more tabs.

More tabs are what one has in practically all browsers now.  It's the norm. 

You might be able to go into settings on your browser and make changes so you don't get tabs.  I am so used to it now that I don't think I can back to operating the old way.

Thanks. I have been searching for a way to avoid tabs but can't seem to find one. Guess I will just have to get used to it!
