A potential buyer sent me a message and claimed that Etsy is asking my email address from him while he is trying to purchase my product.
I am new on Etsy, but still this does not seem normal.
your comments are appreciated
thanks

Did you read the information in the pink box, warning you of scams, or did you click it off, before reading it?
If it's not in the "From Etsy" folder, on the left hand side, it's not from Etsy
