Hey everyone,

sk we are new to Etsy and had our first sale, yay..

we then received a message from another buyer saying that Etsy won’t let them purchase and is asking for us to provide them with our email address. Is this a scam?

has anyone else had the same thing

Yes, this is a scam that has been going around for a while as @PlatypusDream so mildly put it.

Put the message in your spam folder so it does not affect your seller rating. You did not get a second sale - all sales will show up in your Shop Managers>Orders and Shipping. If not there, no sale. Don't take anything off Etsy.

Sellers have lost thousands to these scams.  

All real orders will appear on your shop dashboard, and the money will show in your shop payment account. If it doesn't show on your dashboard, you don't have a sale.

Buyers don't need your email.  

Also, if Etsy ever needs information from you, this will also appear on your shop dashboard.  Don't fall for faked Etsy emails.

@IndigoCustomsAU   If you do a quick search in the forums you'll find this is becoming common for first sale and/or new sellers. Aside from what other sellers have posted, you'll want to place the message in your Spam so it does not count towards your Star Seller stats that you may be aiming for in the future.
