Summary of issues below:
1- Unable to add photo or shipping costs prior to sharing the listing with client
2- Craft Type error with Greyed out buttons that do not allow to save the listing
3- Unable to save Shipping type because the cost of shipping is higher than what Etsy expects sellers to charge.
Will appreciate your prompt attention in resolving these issues.
The holiday season has started and logistic/technical issues with the site are inconvenient for both, buyers and sellers.

I stopped using the custom order function because I had to keep going back to customers to get their zipcode so I could give them the cost of shipping before I set it up. I now just set up a reserved listing with a "Reserved for X" as the first photo. I then tell them the price will have sales tax and shipping added depending on their location when they check out. Send them the link for the reserved listing. Easy Peasy.
Because Etsy decided to change something that worked just fine in the first place and now they cannot fix it!?? just like alot of stuff they feel the need to change that was not broke!!
It would be great if they would fix this terribly broken function but I'm not holding my breath. I've gotten very fast at making the necessary edits to add a photo, attach a shipping profile, etc, but one of these days a customer is going to beat me to it and ding my stats in the process.
I use custom listing function at least once a week.. not having a problem with it. It accepts my postage just fine. What I do NOT Like is that I have to race the customer to put in my own picture and not that silly Blue/Gray Cards?? or whatever it is in a listing. I get that Etsy wants people to think it is their sale and not mine but it is not theirs! ( also not holding my breath!)
If you have multiple profiles for return policies (I have different return policies for custom orders), also be aware that it automatically applies a random policy from your policies and you cannot choose it before you send it to the customer (along with the other issues of photo updates, shipping profile updates that need to be done after it's already sent). Just a heads up you might also need to change the return policy after it's sent if you use the custom listing form.
You forget: They took out the ability to add a personalization box to Custom Listings, which is needed.
So far, Etsy has simply made it worse, and worse, and worse to the point it is pretty much useless.
