ETSY Automatic dispatch updates going crazy with Packlink Pro integration
Hello everyone,
I reached out twice to Etsy via their live chat system with this issue but understandably this is beyond the scope of their lovely customer service employees. They said they reported the issue to the correct department but I am posting it here as well just in case someone from their IT is reading these forums too.
The ETSY - Packlink Pro integration (I believe this is only for EU based shops) has always been a bit rusty (at least for me) but since this month July it has gone completely mad.
Whenever I dispatch my orders with help of the truly amazing Packlink platform, Etsy sends multiple automatic dispatch updates to my customer, pulling wrong tracking information from the platform each time which really negatively impacts the buyer experience.
To give you an example, here is what the system did with one of my customers:
1. I choose, scheduled and paid for a shipping service to ship the order. *Etsy sends automatic dispatch update with track and trace code generated in platform*
2. The carrier picked up the package the next day from my house and registered it as ´received´ in their system. *Etsy sends another automatic dispatch update with a complete different track and trace number*
3. Etsy platform does not recognize any of these track and trace numbers pulled automatically from the Packlink platform and so status on order remains on ´no tracking available. I manually add the direct track and trace number of DHL Express by ´adding a package´ to the order. *I understand this sends an automatic dispatch update again to my customer and I always send them a message to please ignore it. So this one is completely my fault but so far the only way I know to make sure the order is properly tracked on the Etsy platform and therefore eligible for any protection programs.
4. DHL Express registered shipment ´ON HOLD´ when it went through the normal customs check when it arrived to the US. Once the check was finished, the package was ´RELEASED´ again with an update in the track and trace information. *Etsy sends another automatic dispatch update with the same track and trace number as the 2nd dispatch update, alerting the customer yet ´another package is on its way´*
So this poor customer received 4 different order dispatch emails, each with a different track and trace number and expected delivery date. I feel the only way to solve this for the customer in the short term is to remove the Packlink integration from Etsy and do it all manually, but this would really increase the time I need to spend on each order. And I´m not sure if I will then also lose out of better shipping prices if I don´t do it via the special Etsy integration..?
If anyone is going through the same and has found a better solution, please let me know! I would really appreciate it. And if someone from the right Etsy team is reading this, please it would be great if Etsy could look at this issue to improve both the buyer and seller experience. Thank you!
