Hello -
I've received 3 orders from the same buyer for the identical item. Same buyer, same print, same shipping address. One order came in yesterday, two this morning. I contacted the buyer and she replied that she only placed the first order. Each has a unique order number, so they've been processed separately. Could this be a bug?
Thank you
Yes I believe it is a bug. I read about this last week from others in the Forums.
Thank you PinkBirdCottage! I scanned the forum topics to see if anyone else had posted about it today. I'm currently at work but will reach out to Etsy for help and cancel the extra orders later today.
Wow. That is a scary bug. Etsy is now manufacturing their own sales?
IDK OneEyeCatStudio - it could be a buyer error
More likely Etsy has made some changes while purchasing and it’s catching some buyers into hitting the button more times? Since it’s happening to more than the errant buyer the problem comes from Etsy.
The orders have come through at different times. One last night - 2 this morning a more than an hour apart. So I doubt it's the buyer hitting the button more than once
I've accidently placed duplicate orders (not on Etsy but other sites) if the processing seems to hang up.
I'm seeing this multiple times on Reddit. The problem isn't so much that YOU are seeing multiple orders-the huge issue is however many duplicate orders you see-the customer has been charged each time. I have now seen multiple posts from buyers saying they are having to message sellers asking why they were charged twice-or 3 times in your customers case. One buyer was told by Etsy cs "This is very rare but we don't know why its happening" and then proceeded to tell that buyer, who was stating that she was nervous because she wanted to make several large purchases on Etsy the following week that "well she would have to use her own discretion when purchasing". I mean.....this isn't acceptable on any level from Etsy.
I'm glad that my buyer responded to my message long before she'd see multiple charges to her credit card. I'll cancel the duplicates
