Please can you tell me why all of a sudden all 20-30 of my spam messages have gone, i have nothing in spam folder, i have deleted cookies and cache to do with Etsy and very annoyed that i cannot see the spam messages over the time, as some people i have sent to spam??????
spam messages were deleted a couple of months ago, probably clearing out all the junk that has built up with scammers
not sure if they did it again recently, as I haven't had any since the last clear out
Etsy started deleting Spam messages 2 months ago, it's not new.
IF these are older spam messages, then Etsy would have emailed you a notification that contained the text from the message at the time. If you have kept those emails, then you can find them.
Yes, Etsy did their initial house cleaning on shops' spam boxes. Since then I'd placed one message in spam. When I checked messages Monday morning my spam box was empty.
It was a message sent me hoping for additional help here in the forums. I can't honestly remember when it was received & I spammed it.
So I wonder if Etsy has taken to automatically emptying spam boxes after a certain length of time?
Which I guess would be okay if they placed some sort of notice that this will happen.
Since I've seen a slight bump in the threads about Etsy still sending legit messages to a shop's spam box, I don't know where that could lead.
@JMOldeVintage I really dont remember getting a message about this,,, i have been onto the chat and they didnt mention this and said they have to look into it. But i know its probably etsy if its something they do something i have to accept and be aware of.
Thanks very much guys, much appreciated your responses.
Here was my post about it from last month when we first noticed it. Just in case there's any insight to how you want to handle spam messages in the future.
Spam folder emptied - Welcome to the Etsy Community
It is irritating that Etsy never informed Sellers of this change to how they handled Spam. So in future, if you want to keep track of the Spammers, you will have to screenshot, or keep a list of members accounts on your device, off of Etsy or even on a piece of paper.
I used to keep most of the emails that were Etsy message notifications, but ONLY those from actual customers, as a backup. So I don't have any record of past spammers, now that Etsy deleted everything from my spam folder.
Now that emails of message notifications no longer contain the message text, I delete those emails, since they no longer contain any useful info.
@VogueVixens: "Now that emails of message notifications no longer contain the message text ..." The message is still contained in the eMail copy, just hidden from your browser. If you look at the raw content it is there right after the header information.
