Seriously Etsy, get it sorted!!!!
US Tariffs mean Worldwide sellers are unable to send to the US, make it easier for us to sell to ALL the other countries with this BASIC option....
Everywhere else is anywhere in the world except your own country - no country is excluded.
Yes, exactly my point... If I want to send "everywhere else" (EXCEPT THE US) I have to manually enter 195 countries individually!
US can be de-selected if you use calculated shipping.
If you use fixed, you can add US as its own destination then put the shipping at something silly, like $900 + $900 each additional item.
Only the USA and Canada have the option of Calculated Shipping --and therefore a quick simple method of deselecting a single country whilst leaving the rest of the Shipping profile unchanged
Everyone else has to first remove the "Everywhere Else" and then add back in all the countries they do want to ship to.
@luxcrafter OP is in France and does not have the ability to use calculated shipping.
I spoke to support about this issue yesterday too, it seems like such a huge oversight especially given the current circumstances. I want to ship everywhere apart from the US until there is more clarity on what the tariffs will entail, but I certainly don't have time to manually add a shipping profile for every country on the list, let alone for all the shipping profiles I have.
@XxStitchedUpxX I don't think it's an oversight, it's quite deliberate. Etsy wants us to sell to as many countries as possible, especially the US.
Fully agree, I was googling for the answer before finding this thread... I can't believe this isn't an option already, what are we expected to do!?
@DerpyDooDesigns You need to remove 'everywhere else' and add each country in separately.
There may be 200 or so countries in the world but, realistically, how many of them are you actually going to sell to.
Please fix this Etsy!
I have been in the forums since 2014
there are regular call for us to be able to switch a country off, rather than adding them all
nothing changes
I would continue under the assumption, that it won't change
You are lucky, I had about 1000 to do!
I did actually create new shipping profiles, taking into account size, value, weight and added countries manually. It is a right royal pain.
Normally I list France (of course) EU, non EU & then everywhere else. I did wonder if adding USA with stupidly high shipping prices after non-EU, then adding everywhere else would work? But I’m not sure how ethical that is?
MY thoughts exactly.
Same issue here it's just nonsense, i have to charge $50 for shipping 3$ badges to US customer, only way is to discourage them to buy is to adding exorbitant shipping prices. No i don't want to add each prices for the entire world just for avoiding US sales...
if royal mail do the 10% plus 50p on item price, (rather than the item plus shipping) then it will be an extra £2.90 for my £24 tea cosies - I'll probably make it £3.00, I have a bit of leeway at the moment anyway for fees.
if they add it to item plus shipping, then I'll add an extra £4.50
much less than anyone in the EU would get hit with adding VAT
@CraftyCornishMaids @How will you account for someone buying 5 tea cozies at once if you’ve only added £3 or £4.50 onto shipping? If you don’t sell discounted bundles you could this amount on as a multiple, so if people buy 3 they get charged an extra set amount for each extra item - which Etsy shipping accommodates.
But if anyone sells discounted bundles as variations - like I do - there’s an issue with the adding a flat rate to shipping method. What we really need is a % of order value method to add things onto shipping.
I already have "with another item", I'll add it to that
You often quote sourcing your wool from Turkey, does that affect your tariff as Turkey has a 15% tariff (I think)?
No, it doesn't affect the 10% tariff
I don't sell the wool as wool
the Country Of Origin is where the last substantial transformation was made, and I transform two separate types of balls of wool, into one hedgehog tea cosy here in GBR, so 10%
If I sold the balls of wool as they are - balls of wool, they would be COO Turkey, and be 15%
Thank you for the quick response. I am finding some of the reasonings in the application of tariffs to be as clear as mud.
I think your solution "adding USA with stupidly high shipping prices after non-EU, then adding everywhere else would work?" is a good idea. You ask if it is ethical, I don't see why not, but maybe I am overlooking some aspect of this. To me it seems like the only way -for now - to keep our visibility in the US while at the same time excluding real sales from there.
