Customers Are NOT able to leave a Gift Message

Good morning,

I have been having issues with my customers not being able to leave a gift message during checkout.  I just received another order this morning with a follow up message from the buyer that once again, they could not leave a message during the check out process. This is causing issues and frustration for our BUYERS.  Any help with this on going issue would be greatly appreciated.

Customer states:

"Hello I purchased an item from you today as a gift. It is being shipped to XXXXX - I realized it did not allow me to put a note or include my name so she knows who it’s from."

Looking forward to getting this fixed ASAP.

Thank you!

I had a customer tell me last week that they also could not leave a gift message

Re: Customers Are NOT able to leave a Gift Message

I also had a customer tell me they couldn't leave a gift note.  I tried to figure out where the option was and couldn't find it, so I had them send it to me via messages.

WTF is going on?

Same, it is frustrating for the customers. Unacceptable.

Ditto.  Depends what  they are using to browse and purchase on Etsy I believe.  Some see the option easily and some don't according to my customer feedback.  I now have put a separate image on most listings advertising the gift note option and advising customers to message me post purchase if they weren't able  to leave a gift note and require one. Seems to be working so far.

Same. Very frustrating. I noticed yesterday while I was trying to purchase a gift. I tried many browsers and cleared the cache and cookies, thinking it might be the issue. Nope, just an Etsy problem. I did discover that you can leave a gift message and teaser, etc. if you check out as a guest. They need to fix this ASAP!

Re: Customers Are NOT able to leave a Gift Message

As a seller, I have noticed my customers not leaving gift messages lately and wondered.

As a buyer, I am currently trying to purchase an item for someone and it is not allowing me to leave a gift message or choose gift wrap as an option at checkout.

Can confirm it is very frustrating for customers and ridiculous considering how much Etsy put into gift mode, etc.

Re: Customers Are NOT able to leave a Gift Message

Same thing happening in my shop - I contacted the buyer to see if he wanted to include a gift message - he said there was no option to do so. I double checked my settings and gift message is enabled.  The same thing happened to me a few weeks ago as a buyer - no gift message option.  I messaged the seller directly.

I thought Etsy was all in on being the go to site for gifts?

Re: Customers Are NOT able to leave a Gift Message

I ordered a gift today and wasn't able to include a gift message.  I did not want to use the "gift teaser" option as the person who is receiving the gift has been ill and may not be checking her email every day.  So, I contacted the seller to include a message.  As an Etsy seller myself, when I process gift orders, I have always enclosed a card with the buyer's message.  In my opinion, I think the gift teaser is a bit impersonal. Buyers should be given the option to either use the gift teaser or have a message enclosed with the gift.

Re: Customers Are NOT able to leave a Gift Message

Constantly hearing this from my customers! For as much push as Etsy gave their "Gift Mode" last Winter, these features are incredibly hidden -- it should be SUPER easy for folks to check a "this is a gift" box and leave a message!!

Re: Customers Are NOT able to leave a Gift Message

Throwing my ring into the missing gift message thing. It's really annoying.

I had one ready to ship today and was packaging and on the gift receipt there was the message but I didn't see it anywhere on the order shown on Etsy. It's not uncommon to get a marked as gift with no message or name but this was the first time I saw it printed on the gift receipt and not on the website. I almost missed it. I don't include the gift notice since I don't like that it says Enjoy your gift from Etsy!

I do include a nice small gift size card that I designed to include in gift orders. I really hope this is eventually fixed but wish in one and all that. I'll just have to be more careful when dealing with items marked as gift.

People who don't print packing slips and receipts may end up with unhappy buyers since there is no indication of a gift message except on the receipt. And what really sucks is that it's not the sellers fault.

And right before the holiday shopping "season"

Naturally
