Customer Receiving Messages for Orders from 4 years ago!

I've received a few messages from my customers stating they are receiving messages from me from orders 4 years ago as well as signature required (which we do not do) and that it would cost 100's of $'s for their order to be received.

Ugh - I had some odd messages in my inbox from myself from a year ago or so earlier this year, and I saw a few other posts in the forum where other sellers had the same thing happen. 

I would recommend reporting this to Etsy Support so they can send it on to the IT area, maybe the message system is glitchy again.

There were a few posts about this a couple? weeks ago - people getting messages *that they'd sent to customers* years back. Hopefully Etsy is aware of whatever programming glitch caused it. If it happens again I'd definitely sent Etsy the info.  Fingers crossed it's gone!

I have a message thread on the top of the message list, saying it came 4 days ago, but it is from 2024.

@farmersattic I've seen this a time or two as a BUYER - the glitch involves USPS recycling tracking numbers, and somehow through Etsy's automated email system, they send out new emails to the old customer.  See if you can look at a past order from that Buyer to see if the tracking has more recent dates, and locations that are not yours or the Buyers.

For some reason, I have only heard of this happening on Etsy.

I have been receiving messages that have been answered from weeks and months ago suddenly pop up as New. I am sure that this is a glitch and hopefully they are aware of the issue. Glad I am not the only one!
