Custom listing form -- can't edit?

Jump to solution

There have always been problems with the "new" custom listing form. I still was able to use it, though. I'd create the listing in the convo, then quickly edit it to add a photo, shipping profile, and return policy.

Today I tried to do that, and could not get to "publish" because it was requiring this:

Please fix the following error in order to save your changes:
Craft type

I cannot find craft type on the form. There's a category (and minimal options if you try to use the text box), but no place to select a craft type that I can find. Because I could not save the form (without choosing a craft type) the listing is stuck in "update required" because it has no shipping profile.

Yes, yes ... I know I should not be trying to use this form. But is this "craft type" problem new?

I see craft type for many of my listings ... and I can select 'beading, sewing, scrapbooking, etc.

Go back and change the category to something else ... even if it's not a good fit so that you can save as draft and then edit with the old form ... that might make craft type go away.

I suspect that craft type is for things that are craft supplies.

This is within the custom listing form edit page. It's different than editing a normal listing.

Yes, I'm trying to list a craft supply. So maybe this won't be happening with most listings.

GlassyFields - I don't think you are in the same place as the original poster was talking about.

@Adorabilities are you editing thru the message page, or have you tried editing thru Listings manager - most recent?

@PillowDetails
I created the listing within the convo. And then I clicked on it from the listing manager to edit it.
That's what I always do, so I think this new issue probably has something to do with the new listing form. Maybe they're linked?
It's basically asking me to enter information for a question that doesn't exist within the custom listing.

I see.  I gave up on the custom listings thru messages when they changed it. I have an image saved for a custom thumbnail, and just publish and pay the darned 20 cents.

I am having the same problem - editing a custom order has 'Must choose Craft Type' at bottom of page - there is not 'Craft Type' anywhere on form - at this point the only way to fix it is go to old form or force quit out of listing. This bug is especially insulting since you HAVE to edit a custom order in to add pictures since they took that option away.

I contacted Chat and they asked me report bug using the 'Share Feedback' link at top right of the new listing form - there's no 'Share Feedback' link. They asked me to wait while they figured it out - they couldn't find it either - 'apparently that feature is no longer available.'

I am also having the same problem. I reported to Etsy and they said use the old form for now which I can do in the blue box but what happens now that the old form goes away and this is not fixed? I'm tired of paying fees for things that don't work.

EXACTLY my issue. It demands a "craft type" but there is no place to see or change it. I posted a custom order this morning, and had to use the old format to get it listed.

If this isn't fixed I'll deactivate my shop, most likely for good. Already closed the other two.  No time for this irresponible etsy mess.

I'm having a slightly different issue- it won't let me choose a shipping profile. I can only manually enter the shipping details which takes extra time. It's a race against the clock to make the proper edits for star seller before my customer purchases. What a mess, I'm sure they aren't going to fix it anytime soon either.

I'm having exactly the same problem.  It won't let you save the listing unless you put ALL the edits in place, and there is no Craft type field there to allow you to do it. A lot of us are having the same issue. All I wanted to do was to add a photo but it won't save. It worked fine before they changed it. They just seem to have forgotton to add the craft type field. So frustrating.

Re: Custom listing form -- can't edit?

I reported the "craft type" bug a long time ago, before they got rid of the old listing form, and the problem is STILL not fixed.  I had a custom request this morning, and I went ahead and left the listing as-is and asked the customer to purchase without the photo.  I wish Etsy would get their problem-solving ducks in a row and fix this bug.  It shouldn't be that hard for an IT person to figure out the problem.

It's also weird that for custom listings, Etsy sends an incomplete copy of the listing to the customer.  They've been doing that for a very long time.

I am also having this problem with the "Craft type" error and nowhere to change it. I create a custom order from a convo, have to rush to add a photo before they purchase and then it won't let me save.  When will this be fixed??

I doubt it's going to be fixed any time soon. We just have to give up on using the custom order button. Create a regular listing and title it "reserved for..." instead.

Thank you for the replies - glad to know I wasn't crazy or missing something. It will allow me to put in a category (Fabric), but then it wants craft type attributes (sewing, quilting) - THERE IS NO PLACE ON THAT ENTRY SCREEN TO ENTER IT. And it won't let me list it without that "invisible box" having an entry.
