I only sell digital download items, and occasionally I make custom items that are digital downloads.
The system for creating a custom listing that is a digital download is not very good. It requires me to put a shipping cost on the custom listing and doesn't initially allow you to make it a digital item. You have to create the listing first, then go back and edit it and change to digital, etc.
Well, an order of mine was purchased by the customer before I could make the edit to change it to a digital download, and now it shows that I don't meet requirements for Star Seller for Oct because I did not add tracking info to the package that was digitally downloaded.
That's just whacked. I've been a star seller for several months in a row.
Is there a solution for this? I have tried to get back into the order and figure out how to fix that, but I can't. It won't let me edit any of that. Pretty ridiculous system if you ask me.
Hello @SewIncredibleStuff,
We totally understand how hard it is to offer a custom digital item. This is why we've launched the option to make custom digital listings (referred to as Made-to-order listings) to help sellers. This option will allow sellers to offer custom files made to a buyer’s specifications, which will be sent to them upon completion.
When you edit your listing through the thumbnail photo or gear menu, you can edit every part of the listing, including if a listing is digital and/or made-to-order. Visit your Shop Manager page, click “Listings” in the left-hand bar, and click on the listing you’d like to change by either clicking the thumbnail or “edit” in the gear menu on the listing. Once you’re there, you can change the listing to “Made To Order” in the “About this listing” section, and select “Digital” in the listing “Type” section.
If you’d like to convert an existing digital listing to made-to-order, you can make the change in the “About this listing” section and then remove the files you have attached to the listing at the bottom of the page. Keep in mind that in order to have a listing be a digital made-to-order item you will always have to remove the files attached to the listing.

Thank you very much!
Hello @SewIncredibleStuff,
As of the moment, private/custom listings can not be created for digital items. If you want to offer a custom digital item, you can consider setting up made-to-order digital listings in your shop.
Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. But please know that canceled orders are not counted towards your minimum threshold for orders or sales, and they’re also not counted towards your customer service metrics. However, if you refund an order without canceling it, then this will still count towards all your metrics. We encourage you to use the streamlined process for canceling and refunding orders together if you wish to both cancel and refund an order. Thank you very much!
I haven't done anything like you say, but did you read this article?

Scroll down to the 3rd paragraph under "Made to Order".

I understand that now. The problem is a custom order I created before understanding how to do custom digital. I don't create the listing until the item is complete, so what I usually did was click on the thumbnail, change it to digital and upload the file.
Well, the buyer was too eager and purchased the listing before I had a chance to change that info, so it required me to put in shipping info since she purchased before I changed it to digital.
So I just marked it as shipped, but had no tracking number obviously.
Now my Star Seller will be lost for 3 months waiting for that transaction not be in the selection period.
I tried just cancelling the order thinking it would remove the fact that there was no tracking, but that didn't work.
Is there a way for Etsy to fix that order so I don't lose my star seller badge for several months?
It's well documented in messages with the purchaser about how things transpired and she can verify she received the item by digital download, not snail mail.
Thanks in advance for anything that can be done about this.
