Hi! I created a custom listing for a customer and when they click on the link I sent them, it says 429 error too many requests.
What app did you use to hold your download?
This weekend I could see my Etsy shop working normally, but my husband got the same error message as above. I had to disactivate his AVG (antivirus) VPN for it to work again. I left his AVG internet security working normally.
I'm having the same problem but directly from Instagram post links. I have just posted stories with links to my listings but when we click on the link we get the 429 error message. This is really terrible! I can't really clear the cache from my phone/instagram app. And can't really expect my clients to do it either so that they can se my adds, that's ridiculous. What to do?
Try creating a new listing and not a custom order listing and see if that works
It is an increasing issue with ETSY. We are hearing from more people (customers, and other ETSY sellers) that they are getting the error. There are several "work arounds" when you google "429 error too many request on ETSY" - that is if you can understand them. I have Norton antivirus program and I turned on my secure VPN and put it on all my devices. That has worked so far. Downside, is when I had to login the next time on ETSY I had to go through dozens of "I am not a robot" security frames where you pick the crosswalks, firehydrants, etc. It took several dozen frames, but it finally let me into the ETSY site.
As I read on the error message - this has to do with ETSY's program reading your VPN and tracking it. The basis for the 429 error is to inform you somebody/something tried to access your account or tried to hack you possibly - and it shuts them out from repeatedly trying more. ETSY needs a resolve to this issue. It is costing sellers business and then buyers (especially frequent buyers) are being shut out with the same message.
