I responded to a message, as I always do. Her profile said "community manager"
She said in her message that she is a "web designer".
She didn't ask for my email or any information but wanted my permission to offer "an idea
that might interest me". I said "sure" but haven't received a response. I thought it
was actually someone from Etsy. Now I'm wondering what I agreed to.
Maybe I'm overthinking this but wanted to get your thoughts.

Hello,
The person who messaged you is not affiliated with Etsy.
For future reference, Etsy staff have an orange "E" badge in their profile. Here's an example.

Re: Community manager message. Fake or real?
Where did it say "community manager"? Do you mean on that person's about page? I've never seen anyone have a title.
It sounds very suspicious! If they come back to you, I'd probably mark the message as spam.

Re: Community manager message. Fake or real?
I wouldn't worry about it until they actually get back to you and let you know what "an idea that might interest me" is about. Then probably send the message to spam as the idea will probably only be of interest and benefit to the sender.

Re: Community manager message. Fake or real?
Thanks Lisa for your help (message). I found the list and I don't see her on it. Maybe @thatregina can help with this.

Re: Community manager message. Fake or real?
That's why I would proceed with caution and hopefully @thatregina will be able to verify if it's legit.

I received the same message 6 weeks ago, and said NO Thank you, I'm not interested nor do I want to be contacted again.

Re: Community manager message. Fake or real?
Didn't someone post in one of those scam threads that these scammers that are messaging sellers saying they are "Etsy support" have that orange circle with an E?
Or at least a logo that was close enough it looked like Etsy's logo?
And those messages were NOT from Etsy.

@vintageNCtreasures I believe so, and that is why I replied the way I did in my comment up above.

Re: Community manager message. Fake or real?
I thought someone posted that so there's NO way you'd know if that message was from Etsy or not especially since it's coming through Etsy's message system.

Re: Community manager message. Fake or real?
The orange E badge would be easy to fake.
