Claiming non delivery on 2021 order... what?

I just received a help request for an order from nearly 2 years ago that is claiming non delivery and the resolution is they want a refund.

The package was delivered early august 2021 per the Etsy tracking so how can Etsy offer non delivery as an option for the buyer after all this time and proof of delivery?

Is there a time limit?

I have read about this happening here in the forums.

It will not let it progress since the time period to open a case has expired.

It is another illogical option available by Etsy that goes NO WHERE!

IMO ignore it,mark it SPAM!

You can reply that they must have mixed you up with another shop, and that the order they are referencing was delivered in August 2021.

Furthermore, tracking numbers get recycled and it is not possible to track this after almost 2 years have passed.

And, just so you know, the HELP button shows on all orders regardless of time elapsed; my earliest orders were in Sept 2011 and I can still click on HELP.

It's too late for them to file a Case or ask for a refund from their credit card. Tracking numbers are recycled after 120 days. You snooze, you lose.

Word is getting around that Etsy will refund anything, so the scammers are coming out of the woodwork. These old orders won't get a refund, but they think it is worth a try. I had a similar claim just the other day.

This happened to me recently and yeah, it's too late for the customer.

However, I contacted her and asked about it and it turns out she meant to message a different seller and not me. She's not really sure how she managed to get me rather than the correct seller. Maybe there's a problem with Etsy's code.

Yeah, the one I got said yes, it was a mistake, wrong shop.

You can mark the message as spam because realistically it is just a wind up chancer anyway so why get into a dialogue.

My reply:  Are you sure you've contacted the right shop?  I show that order was delivered August 2021.  That was almost 2 years ago.  Unfortunately, it is well-past the time where I can ask USPS to investigate, and also past window for filing a claim with insurance.  Sorry I cannot be of more help."  

Check to see if she left feedback, you can include the "You left feedback on X date, so I would assume you received it."
