Quick question. I ran into a technical issue that (for some reason) is affecting all of my US based customers. I reached out to chat - successfully - a couple of days ago and they said they'd need to escalate it to the technical dept. They told me they'd send the email to an email I don't receive messages in so I asked for them to send it elsewhere - and <poof!> all of a sudden the support person disappeared. I've not been able to get back in touch via chat at ALL since then - despite trying around 5 times. I've also not received any email at all at either address so I don't know if this person was lying, if chat was down or what's going on.
Has anybody else had this issue with chat where it just stops working and you're expected to deal with fallout due to Etsy technical issues without any help at all? Great support system for sellers right?

Many years ago, I had an issue in one Shop only ( I have 5) which only affected Australian Buyers using the Pay Pal Option at Checkout. Payments failed to process or cancel and this went on for Months. Support could not see the issue and any escalation to the "specialized team" was, similarly, inadequate. It became evident that the US Support reps could not even see the issue as it only affected Buyers logged into Etsy from Australia. Eventually, the issue disappeared and I never knew what had caused it in the first place.
All I can suggest is open an email ticket and keep replying to any automated response with "I still need help". Eventually a real Support person will take up the issue. From experience, I have found it better to keep your emails brief and to the point. That is all you can do.
As far as the Chat disconnecting when you asked for an email to be sent to an alternative address, I see this as a good thind. So many Shops have been hacked through email and fraudulent address changes that Etsy is and should be very relustant to comply with a request like this. Surely you can receive emails sent to the address on file associated with this Shop?
You can also access Chat through Shop Manager > Help > Contact us > Selling on Etsy. You may have to test options and look for the "I still need help" button at the bottom of each page, beneath the suggested solutions

Oh my goodness. I cannot thank you ENOUGH for sending me that link to the email. I've been hunting everywhere for one.
Sadly the email connected to the shop automatically closes any emails that come through to it because we receive close to 300 every day (minimum) so even if it did come through it would take my hunting back through every single closed message in order to find it. Not an ideal solution and as this is an additional shop to our main online website this is not something I have time to do as I have so many other customers and jobs that need my attention as well as Etsy.
I'm massively grateful for your help. And it's interesting that these things happen and keep on just 'popping up' now and again. Similar issues have happened in the past but with it being Father's Day rush this couldn't be a worse time for it to happen.
