I opened my Etsy account long ago and added a bank account that was closed years ago. I am trying to add my new bank information, but it forces me to enter the old bank account number which I do not have and cannot remember which bank it was. Is there a work around for this problem?
This is for your protection and to prevent hacking. Look back at any old documentation you may have. Did you ever get direct deposit to that account from your job? Or a deposit to it from the IRS?
It might just be easier to open a new shop
I know it is for protection, but there should be a support function that caters for problems like this. I opened the Etsy account in 2012 with a bank account that I used at that stage. I never really sold anything on Etsy at that point, move to another state, opened another bank account and want to use that now. I started selling on Etsy now, have money to get from them, but cannot change the bank account. I do not have the old bank account number, and because I closed it about 10 years ago, cannot even remember which bank it was. I looked at old records, but none of them has the same last 4 digits.
I am stuck and do not get any support to fix this problem. They just need to reset the bank account or help me in a way to solve the problem. When I opened the Etsy account now, it linked everything automatic back to the old account - even with the old address.
Look at old statements or tax returns.
NanaLetha, if I had any of those old statements, I would have used that information. As I stated, I do not have any old records since it is over 10 years old. I need Etsy to allow me to change the bank account. They can ask me all questions to make sure it is me, send me emails or text messages, but help me to correct a bank account number. I can certify it is me, but just need the tools to do it.
Just contact Etsy support.
I did, and is waiting and waiting for a solution. It is very difficult to find Etsy support, and if you find them, they do not respond very fast.
I am in the same boat, Antoinett! I have been successfully selling on Etsy since 2015. Now, with this whole Plaid ordeal, I can only enter my old bank account and not the new one that I set up JUST FOR THIS PLAID/IRS entanglement. AND, to top it all off, I was sure that I could use Etsy Chat Support to work through this, as I have had outstanding results from them in the past. Guess what? During these final hours prior to having my shop closed, I just found out that there is no longer ANY Etsy Chat Support. Unreal. I am scared, tired and furious.
have been using the same bank and account # for 12 yrs no problem until Plaid account has been closed entered the 2 deposits still got closed no help from ETSY have a lot of items to list am at a loss of what to do next

SolePurseSuit. Once we hit the right person, our problem were solved. I worked with Maggie through Facebook Messenger. It was a process and they did say they do not answer questions there, due to a concern for hackers. I understand that very well, but I assume they checked me out on Facebook and saw that I was legit. My problem is solved now thank you.
That is excellent news, Antoinett! Great to hear!!! We have also found help, via finally filling out an Etsy form and explaining in detail what is happening, and then we got back a general email asking us to explain it all again, lol, so we did, of course. Then a really nice woman contacted us and is helping us through this change-over process, it appears. Fingers crossed that this works out. She really seems to understand our particular issue. We are getting somewhere, alas! : )
