I listed a few items yesterday and 2 of the items are not showing up in search. I have checked to make sure they are active and have made sure they show up inside my shop. I also signed out to search as a different user. Still can’t find them. I’ve been selling on Etsy a long while and have never encountered this. do I need to contact Etsy for help?
Hope you will be able to find a solution!
search is a mystery to me.
if i search for reborn vampire... it says 1224 results.
if i search for reborn baby vampire... it says 1444 results { hmmm? why is it more?}
if i search by most recent... only 182 results.
if i search by highest or lowest price... 145 results.
once you solve the mystery to what those numbers mean...
you will be able to find your item.
because i never found it.
I have used the exact titles in my listings and looked through the entire results to the very last listing on the very last page. Not there. Yes, definitely a mystery.
I recently had 2 different listings that would not show up unless the plural was used. As in "Berries" listing would show but not for "Berry" on search. People will tell you this is not possible but its happened to me multiple times. So it is possible. Use both the singular and plural in your listing.
I have a similar problem. I tried to search for any of the items in one of the categories in my store and I was surprised with the result. I did the search as a user of my store and I also did it while I was disconnected from my store using four different devices. I searched until the last page of results and none of them appeared in the results. I sought help from the Etsy support team and a short time later my items reappeared in the results pages. A day later I searched again and again they had disappeared really worrying. These items had been selling until October but at the beginning of November it is as if my store did not have any active items.
Something surprising was that the search returned items that were not related to the words written in the search bar. And the result pages displayed the same items on several consecutive pages as if the pages were in a loop.
Was the member of the support team able remedy the issue? Or did the listings just show up randomly?
There may be several issues at play, all or some conspiring together. If you search within your store do the listings show up? If not, they may not be indexed. It does sometimes take a while for a listing to be indexed. But keep in mind that if everyone on this forum searched for the exact same phrase they would all get different results. Because of "personalized searches" you can NOT rely on anyone's search results to define where your listing is displayed. Even exact word searches may get mangled and your item could be on page 251 but Etsy is only showing the first 250 pages.
They show in my shop and also if one goes directly to my shop, but they do not appear in search at all no matter how many pages there are and what search terms are used. They should appear somewhere when the exact titles are used. (At least that how I understand it)
The search is just terrible on Etsy. I've had the same problem.
I have now been in contact with Etsy for help. The chat person was quick to respond and has referred me to a “dedicated team” who deals with this specific issue. I am awaiting an email. Thanks to those who responded here. I will update if I find out anything that may help others with the same problem.
UPDATE: it has been a long while since I was told a “dedicated team” would email about my problem. There has been no email but a few hours after I texted with a chat representative my listings magically reappeared. I’m happy that the problem was fixed but I would have like some explanation/way to avoid this from happening again. I hate to think that if I hadn’t searched my new items, then they may have just never shown up…
This is happening to me too with a listing I posted yesterday. Nowhere to be found. Weird.
