Most of the time when I purchased labels on Etsy, I end up paying more than what my calculated states. I have 2 items that just sold and not sure what happened there.
When I do the listing I put as 0.150 grams as it asks us in kilograms. If I put 150 it would be 150 kgs which is certainly not going to work. When I go to purchase the label it shows up at 0.15 instead of the 150 grams. One item weighs 69 grams that I need to ship so it jumps into the next bracket or something. Instead of $7.60 I should be paying at 0.150 grams shipping is now at $13.42.
The second parcel buyer paid $13.45. When I go to print the label its marked at 1 kg. Now when I changed to actual weight which is 938 grams so I put in 0.938 or .938 the rate that I need to pay now is now at $25.79.
I have my account set up for calculated shipping as I sell a variety of items and I find it easier to manage this way rather than using flat rate.
Can anyone clarify what I am doing wrong here. Doesn't seem to make any sense. I see Etsy is still down in some area this morning as I tried the chat line and even the bot is not answering. So if anyone can help me here or is it just a glitch happening right now.
I use calculated shipping in Canada too. Etsy only offers weight by kilogram, not grams. your 69 gram package should be entered at .069 kg. Etsy thinks 69 entered the way you have is 690 grams.
Should be .015 kg for the other example
I am seeing issues with calculated shipping costs as well. I sell earrings with free shipping, which usually costs under $5. It is now showing $28 to ship a pair of earrings weighing less than an ounce! Hopefully this gets fixed soon. At least I can edit my photos today. Haven’t been able to do that for 2 days.
Okay. A glitch you are saying. Its happened to me lately though before this. I tried to get a hold of someone on the Chat line and no one is responding. Got a pop up last night saying some stuff was down and they were working on it.
Doesn't make sense when 1 kg is cheaper to ship than 938 grams. But other one is ridiculous. This has been going on for some time. So that's why I was wondering how to enter my grams in the system. 150 grams was a fair as its usually under that but it seems to be showing up at 15 grams and the item weighs 69 grams so the jump to $13.42. Weird.
I've paid the $13.42 a couple of times in the last few weeks. This is not just recent.
@PismoBeachBeads You have free shipping on all your listings, not calculated shipping.

Ok. Will go try that and let you know if it that does the trick.
Thanks so much. This worked. I put the 0 in front of the . or something. Wish I would have asked the last couple of times this happened. I will need to write this down so I remember the next time.
