Hello everyone,
For weeks now, I've been receiving messages from buyers asking for my seller email to complete their purchases. They tell me that after entering their Visa or Mastercard details, Etsy requests the seller's email. Is that true?
This is a scam. Just mark as spam. And ignore.
No - mark as spam
Nope - it is a scam. Etsy already has your email and will NEVER request it in a message to verify your payment details to process an order.

If you have a genuine sale, it will appear on your Dashboard
@TropiLux I'm very sorry you're being bombarded with this garbage for weeks. It's been a huge problem here, an infestation really. When you get an order, it will appear on the "Orders & Shipping" Page in your Shop Manager. If it's not there, you have no Order. Just don't forget to Mark as Spam (so you don't get dinged for Star Seller).
Scammers have been targeting new shops. As a new Etsy seller are you visiting your shop daily? It helps to visit shop daily and to read the information Etsy posts in the dashboard and even coming to the forums.
In the message are is a bold note noting about the scam going around. Also there is a section now that only Etsy can use and will place any message they send. This way you know the message is legitimate.
The way Etsy works is for the buyer to purchase through the order system. The sale appears in orders and a number appears on your shop home page. Etsy has your email and has no reason to ask for it.
I know starting a shop is a lot as there is much to read and comprehend. You did the best thing by asking here but also make sure to learn how Etsy works by reading articles, the forums and Etsy TOUs.
(Oh and add your about page. You need to list all you work in the shop and it does help to have a more complete shop as that kind of deters the scammers a bit. And a bit of an FYI, you are in an EU country and need to accept returns, 30 days.)
