Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

Hello everyone!! I am having an issue with a new buyer who is unable to get shipping calculated for her order. She is trying to buy a life-sized Trapinch that ships in a very large box. When she attempts to put in her postal code, it keeps telling her that her postal code is invalid for both 4-digit and 5-digit postal code. It is telling her to contact me to fix the issue, but I am unsure of what to do. Does anyone know how to solve this issue?

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

I would be very wary about this. Your buyer may be attempting to take the sale off etsy or forcing you into a way to send it without protection. Since your Trapinch (Pokemon) is a counterfeit item unless you have purchased Pokemon licensing, your buyer can do a chargeback for "not as described" and get the a refund without returning the item. Buyers are savvy about getting items for free.

You've opened yourself up to nefarious schemes. I've never seen a scenario where etsy tells a buyer to contact a seller to "fix the issue".

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

I'm in Australia and I was able to cart one of your items and got all the usual payment options at checkout.  I was very tempted to buy my 2yo grandson that gorgeous tiger toy, but the freight costs more than doubled the order, (not your fault of course, just one of the drawbacks of living in this neck of the woods), so I backed out.

Unless she is buying as a guest she doesn't actually need to add her address or post code, it is pre-filled from the default payment info on her account.

I would simply suggest she contact Etsy for assistance as you are unable to do anything for her at your end.

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

Hi there!! Thank you SOOO much for responding! (: It looked like she was logged in and wasn't buying as a gust. By any chance, does your postal code also have four digits? She has a four digit postal code, and we even tried adding a 0 in front.  but it just wouldn't work. She and I were convinced that was why it wasn't working.

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

Yes, Aussie postcodes are 4 digits.

Ask her to check at the very bottom of the page on the left hand side, she should see Australia | English UK | $(AU).  If her location/currency is set incorrectly the system may not recognise the four digit postal code.  EG, if it says US | English UK | $(US), the system will be looking for a five digit postal code because it thinks she is shopping from the US.

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

I'm in Australia, and when viewing your Life-Sized Trapinch, Etsy is telling me:

There was a problem calculating your postage.  Please try again.

and that's with Country = Australia, and Post code = my valid 4-digit postcode.

So that definitely looks like an Etsy issue where it's not handling Aussie post codes correctly.

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

@Samscrochetcuddles I am also in Australia. There seems to be some discrepancy betweeh Shipping Profiles on your Listings.

I had the same result as  @Martybugs for the Life-Sized Trapinch, "There was a problem calculating your postage.  Please try again"

But when I carted the Vulpix, I was shown Shipping of AUD $ 73.45 for Standard International. $ 110.35 for USPS Priority Mail International and $ 136.36 for USPS Priority Mail Express International

What Listing was your customer trying to purchase. Perhaps it was one of the ones with a different Shipping Profile?

That is the only way I could get 2 very different results for shipping to the same postcode.

EDITED: To Add, I just checked several more Listings and they all had Shipping to Australia. It is only the Trapinch that has the issue (as far as I can see). Is this a very large or irregular item? Perhaps it is the box size which is the issue and messing with Calculated Shipping Profiles?

+.

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

Hi there!

To answer your question about the Trapinch, it is a very large Item. As is the life-sized Wooloo. Both ship in 22" x 22" x22" boxes, which pushes sizing here in the US. But I am so glad you noticed this issue too! Thank you for trying the other listings. I will dig deeper in the shipping profile for this one.

You're a life saver. Thank you!!!

Re: Buyer from Australia cannot buy from my shop

@Samscrochetcuddles I just sorted your Listings by Highest Price looking for large size Listings and the Life-sized Wooloo also has the  "There was a problem calculating your postage.  Please try again" error message.

I am able to purchase the Life-Sized Custom Kitties! Listing BUT it has NO Standard International and postage of AUD $ 140.2 7 for  USPS Priority Mail International / $ 169.49 USPS Priority Mail Express International

I hope this helps you to work out what is going on with your Shipping Profiles but it is, for all  can see, not an issue with Australian Addresses or Postcodes.
