Bug with stats order values when comparing weeks vs month

Jump to solution

When looking at stats week by week, they don't match monthly stats (and monthly stats don't match monthly statements).

These are the stats for the following dates in my shop for example (dates are formatted DD/MM/YY):

01/10/23 - 07/10/23

Orders: 42

08/10/23 - 14/10/23

Orders: 56

15/10/23 - 21/10/23

Orders: 32

22/10/23 - 28/10/23

Orders: 42

29/10/23 - 31/10/23

Orders: 5

As you can see from the above, every order in October should be counted somewhere in one of those ranges, but if I manually add these numbers I get:

Orders: 177

Whereas when I set my stats view to 01/10/23 - 31/10/23 I get:

Orders: 209 (magically almost 30 more orders).

This higher order number is more accurate by the way, but I'm not sure it's fully accurate because the monthly statement counts total sales (items) instead of orders and because of timezone issues (I'm not US based) the data download for orders has always been inaccurate around the 1st of the month for me.

This is on the desktop view - I can confirm the bug is the same in the Etsy Seller app though.

I'm assuming this has something to do with timezones, I'm based in Australia and because I'm not US based there are a lot of issue with Etsy and timezones (e.g. order fulfillment is often expected on Saturday because Etsy thinks it's Friday, monthly order CSV's  have different data from the download page vs the finances page when those orders happen on the 1st of the month, etc., stats are often inaccurate until 2 days have passed - i.e. US catches up to Australia's dates).

I'm also assuming that this has something to do with code that was pushed in the last fortnight or so, because the numbers were still accurate last week (I have a separate spreadsheet I copy these stats over to and that spreadsheet was still accurate last week, but this week the numbers from previous weeks don't match).

It looks like this has been fixed by the way! My stat numbers match my spreadsheet again, and the month totals add up again.

I'm seeing a glitch in my stats too. The stats for "This month" YoY is not accurate—I started noticing it yesterday. It doesn't match the numbers I get when I do a custom date range of the same dates. I thought it was resolved today but I just noticed it again.

Stats never seem up to date in the time period leading up to 12:00 Eastern Standard Time when they are updating everything in New York. Mine can be correct say at 5:00 in the evening and then some days my sales for that day drops off of the totals to magically appear again in the morning when I get up. It is never correct on the last evening of the month because they close the month on Universal Time rather then Eastern Time like they do nightly.  Also during those hours between your time zone and Eastern Time when we make a sale everything is wonky. I'm 2 hours earlier and if I make a sale after 12:00 Eastern Time and before 12:00 AM my time it counts on todays sales number, but the funds count on tomorrows funds, etc. and that delays when the funds are available. It is all totally confusing.
