I keep getting the "first message from potential buyer" wording when I've already responded to my customer a few times. So, it seems like it's not registering. I don't want it to effect my stats.

I experienced it with an actual buyer, in a conversation before she made her purchase.
It has been an ongoing problem.
I got one of these about an item I was *buying*. So definitely something sketchy.
@Saturnustea it makes no difference if you are buying or selling: first messages to you will have this warning, regardless. Nothing "sketchy" about it.
@LilybelleGrace @MADandMATE : Based on the numerous recent threads about this in this forum, the new message banner not going away appears to be only a user interface glitch which is not affecting any stats such as Star Seller. There have, however, been reports about other Message issues that are impacting a shop negatively.
Best to check the applicable CSV file on your Star Seller page regularly. Keep in mind that usually a new incoming thread is not included until after the 24 hour reply window has passed regardless of when you replied and that Star Seller stats (and the CSV file) are updated only once per day so there may be an additional day's delay.
Chiming in to note that I answered a message within two minutes last night, and the blue banner stayed on that thread until I sent a 2nd reply a few minutes ago (21 hours later). I'm thinking I would have lost Star Seller if I hadn't sent the extra (totally unnecessary) reply before the 24-hour mark.
This really needs to get fixed! I certainly don't appreciate doubling up on my tasks, and I'm sure the buyer doesn't appreciate the extra pings to their phone if they did get the reply and simply decided they didn't want to pursue an order.
I am having the same issue!! Previously it cleared when I sent an addition message to the customer saying "Thanks" from my desktop.
Now send a response from my desktop is no longer clearing the "first message from potential buyer".
THIS BUG NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED ASAP . . . or it is going to mess up our STAR SELLER STATS . . . that are not correctable as stated by ETSY.

I have had a few of these. The blue message does disappear after a day or so and it doesn't affect your messages for Star Seller
I've decided to ignore it because it does go away in a day or two.

i am having the exact same issue. it actually lowered my response score even though i respond almost immediately to all messages, to the point where i wake up out of a sound sleep to reply to a message. the new message from potential customer never goes away. so i find myself almost spamming the customer different messages hoping to trigger that silly message to acknowledge I am actually doing my job! I have gone so far as to place customers in spam to stop the inevitable lowering of my response rate. If they are going to hold our feet to the fire over responding quickly to all first messages, fix the issues as to not punish us for doing what is asked of us.
