Etsy has now deleted the box at checkout from the obvious, sensible place at the bottom of an order, to having to click on 3 tiny dots up by the shop name.
What buyer will know to do this?
Why are they hiding the note to seller box?
They made the change months ago. I couldn't remember where it was either and had to ask in the forums.
It's just another useless change that Etsy does. Have to remember programmers are not shop owners and may not even be buyers so they aren't sure how things are supposed to work for the best of seller and customer.
It is ridiculous, I don't even know if they have this for computer anymore, I have to message seller after I order- luckily I order frequently and the seller knows me....I found it on my phone but I never use my phone for shopping! This does keep me from ordering from new sellers that still do this!
Most of my customers are sending me messages with special requests for their orders because they can't find the Note to Seller box in the 3 dots section at checkout. That creates more work for me to have to go into the order and add the note for them. I have even explained to buyers about the 3 dots and some have responded that they couldn't find them at checkout.
It really doesn't make sense to hide this from the buyer - and it is a safety net for sellers to have the note/request that is written by the buyer in the actual order for both the buyer and seller to reference in the event of miscommunication.
I agree 100% percent with above comments. Another thoughtless change that effects Etsy seller. It's very frustrating.
OMG - I bought something June 28th and I wanted to leave a note to the buyer. I couldn't find where to do that. I have been a buyer and seller on Etsy for 15 years! (Even though Etsy says 14 years LOL).
