I have received an email stating there is a problem with my default billing card. I received this email at least three times. I have enter the correct information and still get this email. What can I do to correct this problem?
is it a visa or mastercard? and is the date in the billing section on etsy, still in date
I have a MasterCard. Also, the card number, expiration date, and name on card have been entered.
Is it a genuine Etsy email or a scam?
Yes, is an email from Etsy and not a scam.
It happens to me every time I go to my finance pg. My card is perfectly up to date. It’s a glitch but Etsy is too busy threatening sellers for charging over $6 for shipping and suppressing them in search to actually fix problems.
Exactly! I’ve had this happen for quite awhile now. Sometimes it interferes with my payment deposits.
Frustrating for sure. I did check with the card provider and they did show a verification request which was approved. I did reply to an email letting Etsy know and gave the Trace number. Hopefully it will get straightened out soon.
This is a perfect example why Etsy needs 24 Hr. knowledgeable HUMAN Support. For anything shop related (financials, verification, Hacked Shops, etc.)
I have the same thing happening. Etsy said they’re aware of this issue. It’s been going on for over a year for me. I just keep entering my card. Very annoying!
Yes, indeed. I have read about this issue before but I was not having this problem until now.
I've been emailing them about this issue since at least January. it's an "engineering issue".
No support at all. I've incorporated and now cannot add my business credit card to my account, so any refunds continue to get charged to my personal credit card which is extremely frustrating.
When you say refunds being charged do you mean buyers getting a refund? Should I watch what is being charged to my account?
I keep getting an error message when trying to update my card. Is there any way around this? I have money sitting in Etsy that they will not send me until I can get my billing card updated.
you can't update a card number
you can update the date
to update a card number, you have to add a new one, then delete the old one
.... the card has to be something like visa or mastercard, or reloadable pre-paid card - in the same country as your bank
I would contact your card provider to see what they show. When I called my card provider for the second time that is when they saw verification request that had been approved. They gave me a trace number which I gave to Etsy. Hopefully that number will get this straightened out.
Thank you to everyone who has helped me in my billing issue. Thank to Etsy for taking care of the issue. Everyone has been a big help. Merry Christmas to all.
Did it actually get fixed or are you being sarcastic haha? I found your original post because my card was removed from my account AGAIN this morning. It’s been happening well over a year for me.
I've had to update my credit card in the last month and I've discovered the info is stored in at least 2 different places on Etsy and correcting one did not automatically correct the other. To buy something was one place and the other place was as a seller and using auto-pay.
Credit card information is stored in 2 different places because you don't have to use the same card for billing as you use for buying. Billing is business and for many sellers buying is personal, so they want it charged to a different card.
Cordialkitten, I thought it was fixed but yesterday I received an email from Etsy stating there was a problem with my default billing card. So I will enter my card again.
@TheBluePig Is the problem fixed? Your post goes back two months. It would help us sellers give an appropriate time frame if another seller in the forums runs into the same issue.
I thought it was but I got another email from Etsy saying the there was a problem with my billing card. I don't know what else to do other than keep on entering my billing information. Any helpful hints will be appreciated. Thank you.
@TheBluePig There's an option to add a new card. It says: Valid credit, debit cards, and reloadable prepaid cards can be selected as your default payment method on file, but you may add other types of cards to pay your bill. It might be something to consider.
Bonjour.
