I have a message at the top of my Payment Account Page stating that Etsy was unable to charge my card. I have contacted my bank to see if they show any issues but they do not show any charges trying to be done on Dec 13th for $3.20. I tried the Chat feature on Etsy and they recommended trying a different card. I do not have any other cards. I did re-enter my card information again and I still have this message. Can anyone help? I do not want to get restriction put on my shop. Thanks for any help you give me.
Charge your card for what? A refund? Something you bought?

It's about your back-up credit card on file. Make sure it hasn't expired.

OP, be sure the expiration date on your credit card is correct. When a credit card issuer renews your card, the expiration date is adjusted.
I did get new card a while back and I entered the new card information. Then I got an email from Etsy saying I needed to update my card information. The last time I entered my card information that is when a I got the message about billing card error. What should I do?

Have you used this new card yet? New cards need a transaction to get activated.
When I got this card earlier this year I updated the card information and have been able to pay my bill up until now. Do you have any idea what my be happening?

I had same problem last year with Mcard I use often, my bank wasn't seeing any charge attempt by Etsy, so I think the error is on Etsy's end. I had to upload another card (Visa). Both are debit.
You either need to make a sale to cover the balance or upload different card.
I did contact my bank and they showed a verification was requested and approved. I did get a confirmation number, or what ever they called it, from my bank and gave it to Etsy so that should take care of it. I do not have another debit card and feel like I shouldn't have to use another card when this card is okay. I am sorry if this reply seems like I upset with you. I am not and I thank you for your help.
