Bank verification - a new twist

I'm one of those first round USA sellers that got notification back in Sept. that I needed to verify my bank account with Plaid. Because my Etsy shop was intertwined with my sole proprietorship b/m shop (that I'm closing in July) and because I asked and got several affirmative answers from different interactions with Etsy support to my question asking whether Plaid would ever have access to my SSN and because I wasn't willing to expose my SSN to Plaid, nor my business bank account information, I said that after the holidays that I'd come back with a new dba, an EIN and firewalled bank account in another stand alone bank specifically for Etsy sales, starting another Etsy selling account as a separate entity that will outlast my b/m business account.

That part seems simple, essentially starting a new Etsy account which will be different in that I'm aiming at liquidating primarily lots of similar vintage items aimed at dealers or collector and I will be selling other categories of items such as household antiques and vintage jewelry. The other account was primarily solo sales of higher end vintage clothing to individual users. I would like to pull that first account out of suspension using my new banking information (until the end of 2023) when I shut it down for good when terminating my business for the tax year. I understand that I will need to link those accounts. My question is has anyone reopened their suspended shop with new bank account/EIN information? I'm getting my new account today and I'm wondering what the gotchas might be. I searched the archives but didn't come up with a good match.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Bank verification - a new twist

The one thing I do remember seeing in a lot of various threads was Etsy's inability to accept an EIN number. Shop owners were advised to submit their social security number instead.

This is probably one of the shortest Etsy articles I've seen but it does have a couple of links:
https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-us/articles/115015652468-How-to-Reopen-an-Account-You-Closed

As for searching the forums, that can be "dangerous", depending on how you typed in your search term. Often what you are shown is not very relevant. And I swear you're shown the oldest threads first, lol.

Re: Bank verification - a new twist

You can reopen and then change information.  It may take some time.

Personall I had no issue with Plaid.  I researched and was comfortable with them having the information which they don't keep, don't use, etc.  My bank was equally secure.  I used the instant and it was done quickly.  My information is still fully protected  as best as anything can be on the Internet.

You know the EIN is no different really from the SSN.

Stilly your question is can you reopen.  You can just be prepared to go through the procedure.  You may have to ask Etsy to reset your bank area so you can go through the Plaid bit again.

Re: Bank verification - a new twist

I used the manual method to verify my account  and had no problems at all. The only thing asked for was my acct number and routing number. Nothing else was needed.

Why don't you just open the new account and  verify manually. I don't think there is any reason you would have to reopen the old account and verify it if you are not going to use it anyway.   All one needs to do is mention the name of that a shop in the policies of your new shop.

Re: Bank verification - a new twist

Thanks folks. I'll be using the manual method to verify my new account and previous shop's account if I can get the new banking information attached to it in its non-functioning state. I would have had to reinvent the wheel anyway to permanently close my brick/mortar shop at the end of this tax year. The only reason I'm going to try to reopen my old account was that the feedback was universally positive and therefore valuable to the new shop and until the end of the year I'll still sell solo premier items through that shop outlet if I'm able to reopen it. I'll update if I have problems with getting this done. Fingers crossed.
