We had an international package returned to us from our local regional facility. It appears the package was returned because a large portion of the left side of the label was cut off. We tried to reprint the label several times with different formats, but it appears the template was modified by Etsy and the margins are missing so the left side of the label is always cutoff. We tried printing on two different Dymo LabelWriter 4XL printers, and they both cut the label off. Here is a photo of the label: https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0086/8017/7741/files/1.jpg?v=1665411928
We tried printing the label 6 times on two different machines, using two different browsers. We have no issues with the format for labels in Ship Engine, Amazon or Shopify. When we purchase shipping there, they add margins so that the edges are not cut off. We have been printing international shipping labels for at least 6 years with the Dymo printers we have right now and never ran into this issue. Any thoughts on how to get this resolved with the Etsy technical team?
@JustArtinAround: If the label is a PDF file, make sure that the correct paper size is selected and that the print is set to resize to fit. We have had that issue with some PDFs.
The correct paper size is selected. Its 1744907 4 in x 6 in. We print over 10K a year and never had this issue until recently. We tried fit to printable area, fit to paper and custom (scaled to 95%). The printable area and fir to paper both cut off the top at the same location. Fit to printable area reduces the size, but the label is top aligned so it does not affect the edge that is being cut off.
You may be able to find a solution in the forums by searching something like "label print size" or "Dymo printer".
@JustArtinAround There's some threads about DYMO under the All About Shipping section. Hope this helps.
@JustArtinAround I forgot to mention to check your Shipping Settings>Shipping Label> 4x6 label printer.
Yes, our settings are set to 4x6. We ship thousands of packages a year and never had this issue until recently.
Some have had label issues with Safari/Etsy.
I tried Edge and Chrome. Ran into the same issue. When I download it and open it in Adobe, it displays the page being cut off. In Adobe, I can adjust the percentage and it provides room, but it should do this in the browser.
It looks like there's about 1 and a half letters cut off, not a large portion. In any case, see if your printer settings have a "fit to page" option when printing.
Yes, we tried multiple settings. I'm actually in IT and this appears to be a change in the template Etsy uses. When producing the labels, they have the ability to adjust the margins prior to returning the file stream. We didn't have an issue with it in the past and it is more recent.
You could use another shipper. Pirate Ship is great. And the labels print correctly. : )
