Received an order today (Saturday) processing set at 1 - 2 days, Monday to Friday, shipping profile RM 48, order says dispatch by 19th but when I go to buy Etsy postage it's telling me that order will arrive late because the buyer expects delivery by the 20th, this is with dispatch date set to Monday 16th. Does etsy expect me to travel back in time and use a crystal ball?
Not only does this kind of nonsense have a negative effect on search weight, star seller etc but I'll also risk having to refund the customer because according to etsy the order may arrive late!
This has been going on for some time now, Etsy keeps telling me that they are "working on it"
I'm glad you brought this up because this has been going on in my shop for months now. I have 1–3 day shipping Mon-Fri and I always ship within 1-2 days, sometimes same day. Most of my orders show those red highlighted words 'the package is going to arrive late' even right after the order has been placed. I'm hoping this is a bug in the system and that the customers are not seeing the wrong dates of arrival times.
If you are shipping same or next day, that is the problem. Your actual shipping history overrides your stated processing times. So they are going to figure their estimates based on same day shipping. By doing that, you have negated your stated processing time. Since you have actually shipped in one day or less, Etsy ignores the 2nd and 3rd days of your processing times.
@CrownWillow Don't know if it's coincidence but it's only started for me since gaining star seller.
As is the case with sooooo many issues within Etsy, "same sh*t different day"; Etsy finds that screwing up things that work is far more important than fixing what doesn't.
@TrinketDrawersUK: Based on the many many posts about this in this forum, this is a user interface issue (bug) when purchasing Etsy labels and it does NOT affect Star Seller (as long as you mark complete and ship on or before the scheduled to ship by date) or anything else. It is the expected delivery date shown on the actual order after marking as complete that might affect other things.
"Buyer expects" in the shipping warning that item may arrive late has the potential for setting unrealistic expectations for the customer potentially leading to a poor review which WILL affect Star Seller.
I tend to lean more towards this issue being more financially beneficial to Etsy as it relates to "nudging" a seller to use the more costly and PROFITABLE (for Etsy) Priority shipping.
The real answer is simply ignore the shipping message. It actually causes some sellers to ship priority instead of ground advantage so it works very well for Etsy.
I've gotten that when I create a label off and on for years. It is based on information coming from USPS. I ignore it and my items have arrived just fine.
Same issue. Numerous threads sharing this experience - it hasn't created any issues for me with buyers, but it has for others. Etsy is slow to fix these bugs and issues and/or provide updates, especially when it seems to affect so many sellers.
I've been getting that message as well and ignore. He hasn't send to have affected my star seller and I've never had a customer complain about getting it late. I think it's a glitch.
