Another bug with the new listing form

I'm getting another annoying bug with the new listing form, which is supposed to be faster to use than the old one. Considering how it's been debugged, it's definitely not the case.

This one occurs when I try to renew a Sold Out listing using the new form. When I click Renew, it opens a pop-up with the quantity at 0. When I click on Edit to set it to 1 (which by the way the old form did automatically), I get a "we are unable to save your changes" message. The only workaround I've found is to revert to the old form and renew from there. Windows 11, Chrome.

And please refrain from telling me how to do it differently, this is merely a bug report, not a request for help.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

I used the new form the other day to create a listing for a custom request for a buyer from another country.

The old form gives me a shipping cost estimate once I provide the weight and package size ... can't find that anywhere on the new form.

I use Pirateship for international orders and was able to get an estimate there for the package ... but I have no idea how Etsy will calculate the shipping. I sent the buyer a note letting them know what shipping should be and noted that I will refund any amount over that if Etsy calculates higher (which I expect they will since Pirateship is normally less for international orders due to their simple export rate). But it felt weird to even have to write that to a buyer.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

@FrenchVintagePrints There hasbeen a bit of discussion in Forums recently about the issue with Renew / Sold using the "New" Listing Form.

Apart from the Quantity defaulting to 0, it appears that a Seller can Renew / Sold if NO other changes are made. As soon as a Photo is swapped out / in or any other changes are made, it is no longe rpossible to publish as Renew / Sold and retain the previous history of the Listing.

There has been speculation that this may not be a "bug" but, rather, an intentional move by Etsy to prevent Sellers using one Sold Listing and all of its' history to List acompletely different item.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

But you can still renew the listing and then edit / update it and not lose the history although in some cases this can be an inconvenience.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

I've been having the renew sold problem for over 2 weeks now.  I keep hoping, but still have to revert to the old form to list them.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

I have exactly the same issue, but i get the contact support, everytime i do they say there going to esculate it but nothing has happened since, i have to go on the app to change it too 1, then i can edit it on my pc, its an absolute pain, the amount of issues this site is getting its really making it harder and harder to bother bringing customers here

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

It would be really NICE if etsy would update us about this as it affects all of us.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

I'm unable to RENEW any SOLD OUT items using the new form.  I need to use the old form to renew any sold out listings.

I need to RENEW my SOLD OUT listings when I have more available - in order to keep the stats on them.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

@FeatherYourNestFabri: Probably just not understanding and missing something obvious but are you not able to renew directly from the Listings page without editing the listing?

@FeatherYourNestFabri

I simply renew the form and edit if I need to and then publish.

I have also copied an old listing and made a new.

So I would check device being used and browser.  PErhaps that is what is causing the issue.

I am on Edge with no extensions to interfere and have no problems.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

You can always copy listings in order to relist them in the new form ... unfortunately you will lose all listing history, but at least they are listed and available for sale.  Sure hope this will not become the norm once the old form is gone ... and I certainly hope the copy feature is still available to use.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

It's just so buggy. There are lengthy work arounds for many issues with the new listing form which sellers have been kind enough to share. But it's ridiculous that Etsy is rolling out a necessary listing tool which doesn't work for so many sellers due to bugs. And the work arounds are  time consuming and not practical for running a business.   I've chatted with Etsy support several times.  They are always nice, confirm what I already know and escalate the issue.  But this is always the end of any help.  And there hasn't been a fix.  Etsy has become very difficult to work with these days.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

But see I have no issues with the new format.  It is not buggy for me.  And yes I complained loudly at the beginning of the this but now it is so easy for me I hate when the old format shows up.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

@ArtDollsbyJD It's nice that it is working seamlessly for you. I worked for years for technical corporations so I do have some understanding about troubleshooting these kinds of issues. And I've had my nephew who's an engineer checked to see if I'm missing something.  Nope, the program has glitches.  Just because it is working for some does not mean there aren't problems which others are experiencing.  So people sharing their experiences either need help with understanding or the program is not working for them.  Programing can be complicated and glitches can be hard to find. This can be especially true when developing a program which will be used globally.  Depending on the issue, it's not uncommon that some are impacted while others are not.

My problem is intermittent.  When it is working, I've had no problem with the program itself.  When it's not, I can't do anything with it.  I hope this helps clarify for you that some people can have full working access to a program while others don't.

Eloquently stated.

This isn't just about a preference.  It's actual issues.

IDK the point of stating ad nauseam that it's working (personally).  Do sellers need to prove it's not working when coming to the forums to state issues? (hypothetical, of course)

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

I read in one of the many other threads on this issue, and I've been able to do this, that you can use the gear on the Listings page to renew.  Once it is renewed and active, you can edit it.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

You should be able to edit a listing before renewing, not afterwards ... this is one of the problems that needs fixing in the new form ... we also should not have to copy a listing in order to relist it b/c by doing so, you lose all history, and we should not have to start all over again from scratch.  I feel like we're going back in time ... maybe not the ice-age, but close!

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

@SmallDevotionsSupply  I've seen that also (about doing Renew Sold from the gear on the Sold Listings Page/Sold Orders Page). And then Edit the listing.
But can you Renew Sold from the Listings Manager (under Sold Out)?

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

I use only the new format.  I use copy from sold out and deactivated listings and have no issue at all.

It could be your browser that is causing the issue.  I use Edge and have no extensions listed.

Try cleaning out cache and cookies.  Use a different browser or try renewing the item first and then editing.

I really have not run into any bugs.  I can see the issues for translation and Pattern users.  That still needs to be done  I never use the crop for videos so that's not an issue for me.  Since I have been using it for months I have developed work arounds for me that make using the new form quick and easy.   It takes me no more time to use this form than it did the old.

@ArtDollsbyJD

What if I don't want to copy from sold out. I want to renew from sold out. I don't want to lose all the stats on the product plus customers have items in their cart and are waiting for sold out items to relist. In the new format, you cannot renew a sold out listing. I try daily, it's not my browser or cache, it's a bug!

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

Still no shipping charge preview.  I guess if a seller doesn’t need that then the new form doesn’t have any problems.  But that is not the case for others.  Not going to be gaslit into believing the new form is great when it clearly is not.

Re: Another bug with the new listing form

For those who are not experiencing problems, that's great. But for those who can't LIST, it's unacceptable. All these workarounds on a Listing Tool that had over a year to make functional for everyone. What are those Sellers who are having trouble now, supposed to do when June 25 comes rolling around. They've cleared cache/cookies, changed browsers, contacted Support, etc., etc.
I have not listed yet. But this is in regards to Renew Sold of my Handmade Items. I never use stock photos. Every item get its own separate photo (including those of the same exact Style). Which is more work, but the Customer gets the exact item shown in the photo. When an item sells (for example, a "Brown Eyed Mummy"), I Renew Sold and put another photo of the same exact item, another "Brown Eyed Mummy", not a "Green Eyed Mummy"). Same goes for any other Style of my items.

Etsy bots are targeting photos which appear in multiple places (whether stock photos, or a Seller sells on multiple sites. Or their photos have been stolen). The point is, when you're not using stock photos, some Sellers can't Renew Sold and change the photo to another of the same exact item. I don't know what will transpire when I try to list, but I do know that I don't have time to piddle around if a Listing Tool prevents me from LISTING. And this is a problem many Sellers are having, from what I can see. So if you are someone who is not having trouble, try to put yourself in the shoes of those Sellers who are. And how you would feel at this late date.
