In the last few days my announcement at the top of the home page has gone to the bottom my home page where no one will see it. Did miss something? Is there an option to have it at the top? I would appreciate any info or help.
Many thanks for the reply - I agree this is not the place shop announcements - top and centre is right! Would have been nice to be asked
@DNILamps Hi, This is a test which I have at this time. I am seeing the Announcement at the bottom, same as you are. There have been several Threads about it; not everyone is in the test. But regardless, that's a bad place for a Shop Announcement, which is like a "Welcome to your Shop Front". When it's thrown at the bottom, it really looks like an afterthought.

Do you think it will change back
I really am upset about it
@PamelasVintageCloset I could be wrong, but I'm betting it will become permanent. I am seeing it this new way right now, and since it started. I've only seen it revert to the other way for 3 days, then it changes back to this new format for me. I realize not everyone sees it this way, but those of us who are in the test, do.
I'm not in the test so I see it at the top where it usually is. Moving it to the bottom doesn't make much sense to me but much of what etsy does these days makes little sense to me.
thanks for your response
Why would anyone even think that this was a good idea? I sometimes use my shop announcement for important notifications for buyers. How are they going to see it when it's tucked away in the back of beyond? What possible benefit is it to Etsy to remove it from sight?
Totally agree, as you say for important notifications. I use mine to tell buyers a month in advance that we are going to put the shop into holiday mode and of course to tell buyers about my monthly offers.
Exactly my thoughts too!
I agree that this is a terrible idea! I also use the announcement space for important shop info and it will never be seen at the bottom of the page!
Etsy, please rethink this decision and go back to announcement at the top!
It's a test and a lousy one!
I contacted Etsy about this, and after the basic AI answers I was told that it's going to stay . NOT happy.
I hate it! It’s my shop and even I didn’t know where the Announcements were. Change it back Etsy! This makes no sense.
I hate having it at the bottom. I'm having a Fathers Day sale and nobody will notice with the announcement at the bottom of the page.
Exactly! I'm sure that most buyers won't even know it's there. It's vital that it is front and centre for important messages to buyers.
I have toyed with the idea of using the banner to post announcements as an alternative if the announcements are not returned to the top, it's in no way ideal, but doable. I requested via email that my announcement box is returned to the top of the home page.
That's a good idea. I could use my banner template to add text to and save it under a different file name. I guess we'll just have to wait and see how this rolls out, or not, as the case may be.
I'm running a sale & having the shop announcement at the bottom is not alerting shoppers to that fact. I wonder if I would have made more sales if it hadn't been moved.
This is a terrible idea. Etsy tinkering this Sumer is out of control and is making it impossible for buyers to connect with seller branding. This is part of Etsys plan to erase seller identity. They have also moved the sentence under shop names that states what you sell. Very dumb. In addition, when a buy clicks on your shop name because they like a listing, and want to check out more of your shop - all it takes the buy to is their 3 featured listings, and how many sales they've had. No banner, no shop page. If buyers want to see the whole page they will have to figure out that they need to click your shop name twice....which most will not figure out. Right underneath the sellers shop are other peoples listing to check out. This is a huge mistake on Etsys part, and will result in fewer sales for everyone.
Totally agree, you would think that Etsy would want to make the sales process as seamless as possible with as much eye level information at the top of the page, where buyers expect to find them. For instance I'm happy for my buyers to see what items I have previously sold and the previous sales link used to be at the top, but is now half way down the page. In my recent correspondence with Etsy, they say that research shows that buyers don't read or expand the announcements box, I begged to differ and suggested they just give us three lines at the top which would be the total space available and therefore either used or not and with no need for expansion - sadly they have said that my idea "might" form part of a future update.
In these difficult times we do not need this kind of experiment I hope it ends. Of course there is no place to speak with an Etsy person or get help
so frustrating. I always keep my message as short as possible.
still happening and extremely unpleasant. same with the shop headline, which is supposed to influence the shop's placement in google search.
Sadly it would seem that Etsy is not listening. I don't like the fact that what my shop produces is no longer at the top of the page under my shop title, now at the bottom of the page in the about section. Nobody scrolls that far down the page past the reviews to see this information, which makes it redundant. Come on Etsy listen to your sellers!
I just noticed this on my shop, thanks for asking about it! Definitely seems like an a/b test. Hiding an announcement is counter intuitive to it's original purpose. Makes no sense. I hope they switch it back.
