An Error Has Occurred - Can’t Sign In :(

Hi! I currently cannot sign into/access my shops on my laptop right now (I’m posting this from my phone).

I’m getting an error has occurred message over and over again. I do have a few shops and I was quickly flipping back and forth logging in and out of them to move/organize items … could this have caused the error?

I’m also working from a remote location (family vacation) on a laptop and am wondering if this has anything to do with the error/. I’m just panicking as I can’t access my shops .

Any advice, reassurance or insight is welcome.

Clear your cache. Try a different browser.

I get that sometimes lately switching between shops especially if I try to partially erase the prefilled info and edit it with shops that have similar names or use saved info. Better to fill it all in from scratch. It usually only errors on me the first time though. If you're using saved shop names/passwords  try filling them all in from scratch.

This has been and still is happening to me for the last several weeks. Usually even though it says error you cannot sign in, you are actually signed in. Just click on the Etsy logo at the top left of the page and you will see that you are signed in.

I first tried HopeandJoys solution and it worked so that is fab!!!

I am keeping your solution, ChristmasIsLove and yours, BikerBlingCa in my back pocket in case I need to try something different in the future (should this happen again) as I bet those will both work as well !!!

:: Having this too, for the last few weeks, EVERY time I sign in, get the error msg... don't pre-fill info etc and private browsing etc never used to happen... so some new reason why it's happening now for people... easy way around is just remove last digit of password, then add again... but still, should not be happening! ::

@CamilleandtheCuckooIve had the sign in problem for like a year on both shops, I have been using the trick to just refresh and it has always let me in.  I haven’t dealt with until now because I can never find a way to contact Etsy. Last night I was shut out from both shops (pc Firefox). I can still get in on my phone using the refresh trick (this is how I am posting).I cleared cache and cookies, tested add ons and antivirus,tried different browsers, updated my browser and tried your trick of removing last character or password and adding back. I cannot find any way to contact Etsy so I went to “cancel my account”and wrote my problem on a ticket but who knows if I will ever get any help. If any one can offer another solution other than waiting and hoping I hear from Etsy, I would be grateful. If nothing else, I would like to access my account if s to close them properly.So fed up with this platform.Thanks in advance

I have been getting this every time I sign into Etsy (I have just the one Shop).  I never use saved Sign Ins (I always type User Name and password from scratch),

When I get this stupid Error Banner, I do Ctrl F5 (a hard Refresh), and I am in.  But the point is, I don't know WHY I have been getting the Error Banner (always use the same desktop computer, Chrome, Windows 10 for everything).  It doesn't make sense, to have to do a workaround like this.

I get the robot deal on Chrome but not on MSEdge ( but still randomly get the error message. I just sign in again and it goes through. But still should NOT be happening!

Yes, me too (a couple times I got the Captcha), but that hasn't happened in a while, thankfully.  But it's daily that I get the Error Banner.  It doesn't make sense.

Oh yes it is a DAILY thing..about 50/50 . I sign in and out between shops numerous times a day. It has gotten to the point I hardly even notice it, jus tdeal with it but when you thinkabout it it is an ETSY issue as I am not getting sign in errors anywhere else and it has been happening all year.

I was having the Captcha screen (verify you are a human) a while back maybe last year and I think I needed to update my browser to fix it - you might check to see if yours is up-to-date. As far as the error/refresh situation, I have learned to live with it but at least I can get in (for now anyway)....best of luck!

Aug. 4, 2023 I have experienced this Issue for over a Year now & According to this it's been Resolved. No it has Not - Red Banner: Etsy Sign in Error Appears; Everyday this Week.

Yes I know what to do when this happens. How many Shoppers Know how to log on to Etsy? is this what is happening to shoppers, their shopping Else where due to Frustration Not being able to log onto Etsy?  *Refresh the page to log onto Etsy.

I still get error pop-up too, every time I sign in. I hit refresh, and that does work, but still, it seems like something Etsy should be able to fix without too much trouble???

Not sure if I can reply here as I have closed my Etsy shops since posting on this thread. As a buyer (or trying to be a buyer) on this site, I still get this crazy error message every time I try to sign in. Because I used to sell here, I know that all I have to do is refresh or click the Etsy logo as I am actually signed in even though it says I am not. Also, getting the captcha lately. 

I think that other potential buyers are probably just walking away!  After all if you can't sign in ....
