All payment methods for this shop are temporarily unavailable.

I opened my store only recently (mid June), so I thought the lack of sales depended on the store being new and all.

However earlier today a prospective customer contacted me to say there is no method or payment available for my items.

To be honest, I had noticed that my store does not have any payment options under policies, but I thought it was normal. Everything is setup properly on my end and apparently this is a bug I cannot do anything about (I chatted with customer service but they could only report this to someone else).

Do these problems usually take long to be fixed?

It's quite upsatting that I missed my new-store window of opportunity without realizing it :(.

Btw, to double check I created a new account and tried to buy one of my items and, in fact, it's not possible.

That sounds so frustrating. Have you submitted a ticket yet, in addition to the Chat help? If not, it might be worth doing so https://help.etsy.com/hc/en-gb/requests/new?ticket_form_id=360000108008#issue_sell_payment_options

Thanks, I will do that!

I guess I was lucky someone decided to get in touch. A new store with no payments methods, for most people is probably just an hard pass :(.
