Add your first section

When I go to set the Section of a product, it says "Add  your first section," and won't let me do anything else, although I've already got 20 Sections, so I can't set the section for my product. However, if I try it later on, eventually all my sections are there. It doesn't happen every time, but does occur quite often.

This happens to me often too. I often just finish the listings then use the bulk edit option to edit the sections for all of them.

Are you referring to the app? Is there a bulk edit in the app?

This has been going on for me for at least a year now, possibly 2 years. If I save as draft without adding a shop section then come back to it a bit later all my sections usually appear to select from. If that doesn't work then sometimes I have to publish without a section then edit the listing and the sections appear to select from. You can also try bulk editing from listing manager page.

Yes it’s a pain, I go to quick edit, you can add them from there.

Sometimes when this happens, I right click "add your first section" and open in a new window and it reverts to normal. Otherwise I just list it anyway and it goes into the correct section if it is from a copied listing.

I save as a draft and then open the draft and my sections are there. I assumed it had something to do with the new listing page as it has just started happening when I list but it looks like others have been struggling with this for quite some time.

There is a long standing bug where using Duplicate from a live listing does not retain the shop section. Some sellers do not experience the problem but I do in Chrome & sometimes in MS Edge. My workaround is to always use Copy in the listing manager. That works for me.

I'm using Safari and it happens to me intermittently but has been going on for over a year.  Very annoying!

Is this a problem youre having with the website or the app? I cant seem to find sections anywhere on the new etsy seller app, but they work fine for me on the old sell on etsy app and the website.

You are not alone. Same for me in Chrome but not in firefox. Of course someone else will be in the opposite etsyglitchyland.

I found if I go to listings

edit listings

on each listing select checkbox

go back to top of edit listings 

select change section. that works.

This is an old thread but the problem is ongoing so the thread may as well be ongoing also.

I thought it was just me/mine (Firefox). I simply refresh the page and it reverts to normal.

I have also come to the conclusion that Etsy NEVER fixes ANYTHING. They just plow on ahead with new tests.

And to add: I love how the adjust thumbnail is still a horizontal when they want us to use square images. In both old & new listing formats. w t * ?
