About to lose Top Seller status because of an Etsy support message

Hello,

I'm about to lose my Top Seller status because I haven't answered a message from... Etsy support !

I thought that Etsy's messages were not included in Top Seller?

Isn't Top Seller about customers ?

The message is:

[This content has been removed by Moderation. We ask that you please review Section 1, Item 1 of our Community Policies before posting in the Forums.]

I do have a shop on pause, but not this one ! So they will impact this store for contacting me about something that I'm aware of and that is not an issue and that doesn't concern this shop ?

I'm a bit mad right now...

Is there any solution?

Thanks for your help !

@AtelierGaronne  Mark it as spam right now.  That is a scam message, and not really from Etsy.

Re: About to lose Top Seller status because of an Etsy support message

This is a scam. Thieves are pretending to be Etsy staff. This scam has been ongoing since at least July 2023. Messages from Etsy will show up in your mailbox titled "From Etsy".

Real Etsy staff will never ask for your email address because they already have it. Also, any actual orders will show up on your dashboard. If the sale is not displayed on your dashboard, you don't have a sale.

Don’t respond or provide any personal or financial information. Don't click any links that take you off the Etsy site. Send the message to spam.

If you have provided any financial information, immediately contact your bank to report fraud on your account!

Re: About to lose Top Seller status because of an Etsy support message

As others have said, this is a spam message. When you send it to your spam folder, your statistics will no longer count it against you.

Only messages in the 'from Etsy' folder are actually from Etsy and don't count towards your stats. As others stated, that wasn't from Etsy, that was a scammer pretending to be Etsy.

Re: About to lose Top Seller status because of an Etsy support message

That is NOT a message from Etsy support.

Do NOT reply, Mark as spam and it won't count against you.

Etsy would NEVER send you a message like this.

"Dear Seller" should be the 1st clue it's NOT from Etsy.
It's a SCAM to get you to enter your bank/cc info so those crooks can STEAL your money.

If you get a message that is legit from Etsy it would be in the FROM ETSY section on your message page.
If it's NOT there, it's not from Etsy, easy peasy way to tell.

If anything ever needs updating on your shop, you'll see info on your dashboard or finance page.
If nothing is there, nothing needs updating.

Etsy should introduce a spam filter to auto spam these messages

Re: About to lose Top Seller status because of an Etsy support message

Have you ever seen one of their automations being implemented?? They clearly don't test very well before putting them into place and it's always a mess for at least a week or two. At least. Sometimes they just roll them back out because they're so bad.

First you got all the genuine messages that wouldn't inadvertently get caught up in it and people ticked off they have a buyer mad they didn't get their message.

Then, because they're constantly changing their fonts and language to avoid detection, you'd still have a bunch getting through and people ticked off that the filter isn't working right.

If it was anyone else I'd say adding a filter for the messaging system would be a great idea. But not here. Not Etsy.

@AtelierGaronne   Star Sellers have to answer all messages,  or mark ones that are not from a buyer as Spam.

If Etsy messages you it will not be in your Inbox. There's a separate section that only Etsy uses to contact you.

Re: About to lose Top Seller status because of an Etsy support message

@AtelierGaronne  Hi, Here is the Announcement (currently in past Announcements), about the "From Etsy" Folder.
https://community.etsy.com/t5/Announcements/New-From-Etsy-section-in-Messages/m-p/143722497#M1899

If you receive a Message from Etsy Support/Staff, etc., and it is not in this Folder, the Message is from a scammer.  Mark as spam just so you don't get dinged for S Seller.

Also, should you ever be told that a "Buyer" needs your email to make a purchase; not true, this is also a scammer.  Etsy has your email; when you have an Order, it will appear in "Orders & Shipping" Page (Left Column in Shop Dashboard).  If it's not there, you have no Order.

I hope this is helpful to you.
