Greetings to Everyone and the Esteemed Etsy IT Department,
Last month, I encountered an unfortunate situation that led to the loss of my Starr Seller badge due to a single delayed message that I discovered in my spam folder.
It was indeed a legitimate customer, and upon moving her message out of the spam folder and responding, Etsy's algorithm marked it as a delayed message, negatively impacting my "Message response time" score.
As a result, I lost my "Starr Seller" status for August.
I reached out to support and demonstrated that the message had been mistakenly sent to spam. The only solution they provided was to post my concerns here.
Firstly, I wish to caution all Etsy sellers: AVOID MOVING messages from spam to your inbox, even if they are from genuine customers.
Secondly, I urge the ETSY Technical team to address this issue.
1. There should be a mechanism to restore the Message Response Time score for Etsy sellers when an IT error is proven. We all understand that code can be revised, and there should be a feasible solution for such cases.
This incident will likely reduce my traffic this month, but my primary concern is ensuring that my fellow Etsy sellers are aware of this issue. Etsy IT Department, could you kindly investigate this matter and implement a solution?
P.S. My experience with customer support was unsatisfactory, suggesting a need for dedicated technical customer support.
Thank you for your attention.
If you're trying to reach someone from customer support, this is not the channel to use. This is a forum for sellers, we can't help you with your issue.
Customer support directed me to this forum.
It is strange for me too, but true.
Etsy Support can’t make changes to your Star Seller data or manually award Star Seller badges. If you think your Star Seller score was calculated incorrectly, you can let us know in the Technical Issues forum.
@JGArtglass: While Etsy can, and has, made changes to the underlying data so that the stats auto update, it is clear that Etsy support has neither the authority or ability to manually change the Star Seller stats. So I suspect that as soon as they hear 'Star Seller' the majority stop listening and refer you to the forum as they are instructed to do.
It has been suggested to not mention Star Seller when contacting support so your inquiry is not summarily brushed aside.

I was meant to be awarded my first star seller badge this month, but I had a scammer message me, which I obviously didn't reply to, and the account has been deleted since then... I also had my message response time put down because of this. So angry!
Next time, actually SPAM it!
Easiest & most effective solution is to set up an auto reply message!

If the message went straight to spam, would an auto-reply work on that message?
@PartyHappier Yes!
