I have been trying to open a second Etsy shop however due to a "engineering issue" a cannot proceed with "setting up my billing". I have called, chatted and emailed Etsy for 43 days straight given the runaround. All they can say is they are aware of the engineering issue but have no timeframe of when this will be rectified.
I am flabbergasted that a large ecommerce site cannot get this resolved. This is absolutely devastating to my small business - I have invested time and money to start this second shop and I can't even get them to respond to look at the issue.
Sellers should not have to struggle to receive help. Etsy needs to address the lack of seller support and address these known glitches.
Thanks.
Describe what you mean by engineering issue?
Your shop is up and running and items can be purchased. You mean a 2nd shop different from the one you are posting from? Selling something different from this shop?
Is the issue tax information? ID? Other? Without more information cannot help to troubleshoot.
Have you used an email to reply back asking for an update. Constant questions from different sources tends to confuse the issue. Use one email from Etsy to ask for updates and use only that email.
I suspect the issue is that you are in Canada but this shop says the US. Although Etsy used to suggest putting your location as US when you shipped from Canada via ChitChats etc., they now want the banking and credit card address to be in the same country as your physical address. I know of someone who had 4 shops closed over this issue.
If there is any way you can make all of your banking and ID information match countries, I would do that. If this shop has a US bank account, it will be impossible to change this one, though, which may lead to you needing to close it.
Also how are you able to have Etsy in your shop name? I thought that was against the rules.
can't use the name 'Etsy' in your shop name. That's against the rules as it implies a connection (legal/ownership) to Etsy. Before they get with you, you do need to figure a different name.
Not sure if this has any bearing on opening a shop, but...you have time to make the fix, so I would do so.
