278 Free Listing Credits Suddenly Disappeared

Hi all,

I had 278 unused free listing credits in my account. My shop currently has only 89 active listings, all set to manual renewal, and I haven’t used those credits yet.

A few days ago, the “278 free listings” message disappeared, and now I’m being charged $0.20 per new listing. There was no warning or email, and I haven’t received a response from Etsy support yet.

Has anyone else experienced this recently? Any idea if Etsy changed their free listing policy or is this a bug?

I was once promised 20 free listings by customer service as a token of something.. but that never happened.

I thought free listings were a myth

Maybe there are conditions to keeping those free listings, like following Etsy's rules

Never heard of 278 free listings.  Where do you get those?

If Etsy have taken away your free listings, I would see that as a warning shot and remove the illegal items you're selling before Etsy take any further steps, which could result in the loss of your shop.

Etsy Plus subscription gives you 15 listings credits each month ($3).  Credits don’t roll over month-to-month and will expire if they’re not used.  Credits are reset and replenished at the beginning of each monthly subscription cycle.

Not sure how you got 278 credits (Etsy Plus or Seller Referrals) but it was probably an Etsy glitch if the remaining credits were not removed each month as they should have been.  Perhaps Etsy finally caught on and fixed that glitch.

@TBQSC probably part of the bug where live listings weren't expiring when they should. Etsy caught up with the actual listings and fixed that issue (as we know) but maybe only just realised that free listing credits were not expiring either.

Did you get free listings from another seller who promised free listings?  Etsy has a program where recommendations can give a new seller free listings but I have never heard of this amount before.  Or were you recommending a lot of new people who started a shop?

I don't know maybe Etsy thought that something was amiss.

Unless you have a screenshot of the original statement, it's likely no one will know exactly what happened. My guess would be that you saw something that said

"You've used ... free listing credits as an Etsy Plus member.

Grab them before they expire on ...."

This is what a pop-up says when I toggle "credits" on my Monthly Statement pages. A little confusing in my opinion, but basically it's saying you've used 278 free listing credits and whatever's left for this month, use before your Etsy Plus subscription renews.
