2 Factor authentication problem

Hi everyone. I had to do a factory reset on my phone and am now having trouble with the google authentication process - so can't get signed back in. I have reinstalled the google authenticator app and it is working. I reinstalled the etsy app and on trying to sign in, it says its generating a code, but google authenticator doesn't seem to be receiving it. It seems the link between the two apps is gone, and I don't know what to do about it. I can't access my Etsy security settings from the laptop either, as it's just asking for the code! I can't find my original recovery codes Etsy sent, but am not sure if this is anything to do with it anyway, as it seems Etsy is generating a code - but google authenticator just isn't receiving it. I've got so confused.  Does anyone have any ideas on what I am doing wrong?

Yes, I have found them now. So I entered a backup code on the laptop which has now enabled me to get to the security tab on my account. Great, I thought I would be able to turn off the authenticator. But when I try to toggle off the 2 factor authentication it says 'Enter the code from your Authenticator app'. The google authenticator app just keeps generating new codes and Etsy keeps telling me the code is incorrect. So at the moment I still can't access my shop from my phone as the app is saying it's sent a code and the authenticator isn't receiving it. I'm really confused and don't know why google authenticator isn't showing the code that Etsy is sending it. If it did then my problem would be solved. The only thing I can think is that the authenticator isn't set up correctly - but I don't know what else to do to it. Any more advice would be much appreciated!

The problem has now been resolved. Etsy support have removed the 2 factor authentication, so I can start over!

I have the identical issue. How did you contact Etsy support to have them turn off 2FA so you could start over? I don't see where I can ask this anywhere?

I simply asked them to remove the 2FA because it never worked properly.

I am having same issue.

I lost my phone and got a replacement with same phone number. I downloaded the 'Sell on Etsy' app, and logged in with my info. Then I get a screen which just says "We just sent you a code" with the input prompt "Security Code" (btw, sent to where - email, phone). I never receive a code in text or email, thus cant sign in on my new phone. 

If I login through my computer and go to security settings I have two factor Authentication set to SMS. However I cannot toggle this off, since when I do, again, a dialogue box comes up saying "You should be receiving a text message containing a six digit security code in the next 60 seconds." but I receive no code via text. 

I tried using one of the backup codes for both of these scenarios to no avail. I have read multiple Etsy help threads regarding this with no help provided from Etsy. Not sure how I can access my account via phone which is very frustrating.

Oof. I didnt have my SIM card activated in my new phone, so coulnt receive SMS messages. My Bad!

@AtomicDesignShop   Have you tried a different backup code? Each code is single use and you may have used it in the past,

the two tier authentification is a disaster.  unless you have a mobile app with google play or apple for which you have to pay in any case you cannot now open an etsy shop.  instead of using email, or texts to mobiles like normal people etsy have made it almost impossible.  and they are meant to be a craft site not stuck in a modern techno-app hell.
