I Just got a message in my inbox that looks kind of spammy, It reads as follows:
Message:
Please provide your email address so we can send you a verification form.
Order processing system! Hello, your shop is temporarily unable to accept new orders. To restore the shop and see new orders in your profile, please
write your е-Mаil аddress in the chat. You will be sent a notification where you can complete a simple verification. Regards, Etsy.
I obviously did not reply and am about to mark as spam, anyone else get one of these?
REAL messages from etsy will be in the "from etsy" section of your inbox.
This was a SCAM. Mark it as spam and do not engage. Read other posts in the forums about potential scams.
If etsy ever DOES need additional info from you, it will be on your dashboard; they don't send you a message.
Absolutely not Etsy Support; rather, scammers. There has been an infestation of them here unfortunately, targeting new Sellers as well as seasoned ones. They are using "Verification" as one of their scams, posing as Etsy Staff/Support, etc. When you receive a LEGIT Message from Etsy Support/Staff, etc., it will appear in the "From Etsy" Folder (in Messages). If it isn't there, Mark the Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller). *The "From Etsy" Folder is not on the App, however (you must use a browser instead).
Also, many of them are posing as "Buyers", stating they need your email for an Order. They don't, Etsy already has it. When you receive a LEGIT Order, it will appear in "Orders & Shipping" (Left Column of Shop Dashboard); if it isn't there, you have no Order. Mark the scammer's Message as Spam (so you don't get dinged for S Seller). And never click on links or engage with them.
I don't understand for the life of me, why Etsy can't nail these FAKE accounts who are impersonating Etsy Staff/Support, etc. It's happening way too often. Here is the Announcement about the "From Etsy" Folder (currently this is in past Announcements).

Here is the other Announcement "Protect Your Account from Scammers" (it too, is buried under past Announcements).

Hope this is helpful to you.
This is a scam. 100s of this and other similar scams are reported every day. They either want to sell your email address to other spammers, or they will then follow up by sending you to a website that looks like Etsy's site, but isn't, where they will try to steal your financial information.
Etsy will never ask for your email address. Why would they when they already have it?
Maybe Etsy should add into the warning that if a message got "...is reaching out to you for the first time. Send a reply within 24 hours" then it's definitely not from real Etsy.
@DigitalSynthesis: Real messages from Etsy are now going into their own section on your Messages page https://community.etsy.com/t5/Announcements/New-From-Etsy-section-in-Messages/m-p/143722497#M1899 but apparently this is only true when using a browser.

''ЕТSY support is reaching out to you for the first time Send a reply within 24 hours....''
That's new! So now they're trying to use Etsy's terminology that we see on our Message page? Was that the subject title of the message?
Will future scam messages start mentioning badge and star removals?
Oh I was assuming OP just meant the scam message got that blue warning that is attached to every new message.
Thanks all for the input on this. I marked it as spam and did not engage. They were using an Etsy profile image, it did appear to be a new/fake account on the platform.
The reason I posted here however is because of the way it appeared in the inbox. I didn't screenshot it but the web code of the "new message" made it appear a little more realistic than some I have seen in the past, with official looking icons. Looked a little more spammy in the actual body of the message though.
