Feedback System on Storenvy

Right now Storenvy does not have a feedback system in place for it's stores. For those of you that sell on Etsy what are your views on feedback systems. I would love to hear any positive and negative thoughts surrounding them.

I personally don't care for feedback. In my other shop all are positive - no sales here yet - but I feel like it's such a throwback to Ebay. I think that there should just be a place that if people want to they can leave testimonials. But on the flipside, having feedback helps you to know - especially if there's negatives - if that person is trustworthy. Then again, big name stores don't have feedback systems. So...I prefer not to have it, but having it doesn't really bother me.

I agree with Gabrielle.
But since my Storenvy shop is relatively new, I plugged a little widget into the FAQ section that scrolls the feedback I've received here for interested customers.

I am in 2 minds about feedback. Good feedback can encourage people, who are wary of buying online from an unknown seller, to take the plunge.
However, when people start to set too much store in feedback it can become an obsession to get a perfect score and sellers start to go out of their way to please an unreasonable customer just for the feedback. Equally, buyers start accepting poor customer service/products because they don't want to get poor feedback from the seller.

There is also the problem that one person's definition of 'good' is another person's 'acceptable'. I saw a recent discussion amongst the SF Etsy Team where a buyer left 'neutral' feedback. The buyer was not unhappy - the item was shipped in a timely manner and the product was as expected - but that was just the service she expected from a shop, nothing special enough to warrant 'positive' feedback.

In my opinion the Etsy system of allowing feedback but not demanding it provides the worst of both worlds. People are more likely to leave feedback if they have a negative experience and buyers who are unfamiliar with the system can get confused about why sellers only have feedback for a small portion of their sales.

I know this is an old post, but I just thought I would give it a bump. I am on storenvy, but still getting familiar--is there still no feedback system in place?

What made me search for this was this store: http://shadowtown.storenvy.com/

They are selling huge necklaces for less than a dollar. I know its china, but that is still ridiculously cheap. I wanted to see if they are legit, but there is no way to know. They have sold over 1500 items, but without a feedback system, who is to know what became of those orders?

Hey Meghan,

If we hear that any stores are not fulfilling orders we simply shut them down. So far we haven't had any problems with ShadowTown.
