Wish I could do it but have a conflict with the date. Good luck on a successful event.

Re: Benson SummerFest

Has anyone done this fest? Sounds like fun but my setup may not be the best for an outside show... my buttons on cards fly away easily!! (been there done that just in transport! lol!) Just looking for any feedback so I can also help decide if I should invest in a sided tent for more outdoor shows....

Re: Benson SummerFest

I am not sure about Benson Summer Fest. I have applied but have not heard back yet. I was accepted into Rockbrook on May 7th, so I just bought a 10x10 EZ-Up canopy with 4 walls - it was $239 on HutShops.com - in case you are doing any shopping. I haven't used it so am not sure how well it will work, but I do know you absolutely have to weight it down somehow.

Re: Benson SummerFest

Liz- CONGRATS on your acceptance to Rockbrook! I've heard it's pretty hard to get into and it's always well-attended! I'm sure you'll do very well at that one.

I am very apprehensive about outdoor shows as well. Not only because I have jewelry pieces that could "travel" easily, but I also have vintage display items that I don't want to risk damage to. I'd love to do these shows as they are normally very popular and I love being outside, but I'm not sure if I'm ready for the investment in a weather-proof setup!

Re: Benson SummerFest

I did the Midtown Outdoor Market last year and will be doing it again 7 Saturdays this summer and it was great. But they provide the table and tent if you want to pay a little more (which to me $5 extra is totally worth it to have someone else put up that tent).
But I decided that if I am serious about making this venture into a potential full time job then I needed to up the anty and do some outdoor shows - and even apply for some of the more competitive outdoor art/craft fairs. And buying a canopy is just part of that. It's a business investment and I have found tons of online advice about doing outdoor art fairs, how to weight down the tent and merchandise and how to display my stuff.
But I will of course keep in touch here and let you all know if any of the things I try on May 7th actually work - keep your fingers crossed for no rain and no wind :)

Re: Benson SummerFest

Last Spring was GORGEOUS weather for the show, but other artists told horror stories about previous years' weather. Can't wait...this is a fun show!
