I am on the waiting list for KrisKringleMrt in Ferdinand, IN. They only accept vendor who have handmade crafts. They also have an approval process. I hope I am accepted! Wish me luck!
I looked into Bloomington Handmade Market from what I gather I need to register with state and collect sales tax. How much of a pain in the butt will this be?
Hmm. I was planning to try that one this year. I'm not sure about registering with the state. I'll.have to look info that. it does.make sense, though, seeing as tax should be collected on any sales within the state.
All you need is a Retail Merchants Certificate. Just go to the Indiana Dept. of Revenue. All you have to do is collect sales tax from any sale you make in Indiana and keep track of it. You pay your taxes every Jan. It's really easy. I think the application fee is $20 or $25.
I don't think it's too hard to register. I actually let my business partner take care of that when we started but from what I gather it was pretty easy. It's smart to be set up a legitimate business imo anyways and now is a great time to do it at the beginning of the year while you have a clean slate.
It's very easy to do! I stopped in at the state revenue office in Terre Haute and they walked me through the paperwork. I would love to join you but I'm hoping my house will close SOON! I'll relocate on the West Coast... Good luck everyone!!
Thank for the update! Can you tell me more about the Earth Day event? Are their a number of handcraft vendors? I great deal of my business is geared toward "natural living" so I am curious if this is a good fit for me. Thanks!!
That one I'm actually unsure on. It would be RIGHT up our alley but it falls on the same weekend as the Orchard in Bloom Festival which we opted to do this year. The friend who passed it along to be said it was very good for "Green crafters", so I assume there will be a good amount of handcrafted there.
Here is the link to the sponsor page, you can check "green products" for your booth.
