I keep thinking that I can't believe I'm 65! When did it happened? Sounds so old but I don't feel it. But the benefits are nice. My husband retired last March. We're getting Social Security. I thought Wow! we get this money! Then I think...Oh yeah...I'm 65. :o)

I'm 70 and my hair has gotten lighter but just a few gray hairs so when I think about coloring it I just think & have said to friends as a joke, "I earned these gray hairs and I don't want to have to do it again."

I worked with a priest many years , it was with the youth group
He spent many , many hours at our house .
One time he said all things happen for a reason.
Back then I couldn't see that, but as time progresses I do believe it.
One can look back and see if something happened how it all relates to everything else.
At least I believe it now.
Think a few things over and you will believe it to.
That is the higher power !!!

I have this quote displayed where I can see it every day and remind myself...

It reminds me that however little I have, it's more than 90% of others in the world (thank you for hot water heaters, Lord!) and I need to be very, very grateful......while at the same time divesting myself of some of the stuff filling up the "too much" portion of my life!

So somewhere between too little and too much, I am SO HAPPY!

90% of others in the world… sad commentary, doesn't make me happy. I feel privileged to have such luxury. And it does't help that I have to witness the homelessness of many refugees right now being turned away, I have to witness photos and videos of children going hungry. This makes me unhappy, although, again, comfortable… a roof, a/c, enough food and clean water (well, sort of). It's all going to come home to roost, I fear.

Hello, I am new to the team. I also just turned 65 and can't believe I am signing up for medicare. So some words of wisdom...

The future I saw for myself and the world, when I was in my 20's, is neither as bad as I thought it would be or as good as I hoped. Life goes on and we just try to keep up.

I should have read the posts more carefully before writing that last post, sorry to be so frivolous.

Maybe it would have been better if I had explained why I chose to say that...
I lived most of my life, up until the last very few years, trying to be perfect, not being perfect, but expecting myself to be perfect and please people. Now I have found a liberating freedom and have come to understand God's Grace as never before. I can see my place in humanity differently now. I have joy as my everyday life, where my best friend once said, You have a joyless script. So talking about dessert is silly, but it represents freedom from so many unnecessary constraints.

So when I say Eat dessert first, I mean, enjoy life, don't worry overmuch about rules. except for the Golden Rule, and then don't worry, just live it.
